I am writing some custom validation in onBindAndValidate, and am
rejecting a field in a map.  The specific code is:

errors.rejectValue("accepted['"+agencyName+"']",

~      new String[]{"signatureCommand.accept.dept."+agencyName})
~  }, null);

My bean looks like:

public class Command {
~  public Map getAccepted();
}

However, when I attempt to reject the field accepted['tax'], I receive a
NPE:

java.lang.NullPointerException
~        at
org.springframework.validation.DefaultMessageCodesResolver.resolveMes
sageCodes(DefaultMessageCodesResolver.java:103)
~        at
org.springframework.validation.BindException.resolveMessageCodes(Bind
Exception.java:163)
~        at

n.java:152)
~        at
com.hic.eboss.web.SignatureController.onBindAndValidate(SignatureCont
roller.java:143)

This is because the Class of accepted['tax'] was not found (because its
value is null).  There was a similar problem w/ null values in a Map
with the registering of custom property editors.

I believe that DefaultMessageCodesResolver should just handle the case
where the Class is null.

classes that were introduced after 1.0. I think it's a good thing to
start using the @since tag to allow for users to see whether or not the
current release they're using already contains the functionality.

Sorry, step back: This is actually intended behavior. If you don't =
specify an index, the constructor argument value is considered generic, =
to be matched any number of times. So in your case, simply add index =
attributes:

[Springframework-developer] MethodInvokingFactoryBean doesn't convert arguements.

I was fairly confused for awhile when using MethodInvokingFactoryBean, and 
found out that the fancy conversions you use when defining properties on 
beans don't happen to the arguments passed into the 
MethodInvokingFactoryBean.

I thought this was rather un-Spring like, personally, but assumed it was an 
oversight, or hadn't been needed, or whatever.

I whipped up the following subclass that sorts things out nicely.  It's a bit
naive, and it doesn't find any registered PropertyEditors defined in the 
context or anything, but it works for the bare bones stuff.

As a side note, I found that there really isn't any API support for finding 
registered custom property editors in the context - the only thing that was 
available to use was AbstractBeanFactory.getCustomEditors().  I was thinking 
that it would be handy for _some_ interface to expose this - possibly 
ConfigurableBeanFactory, where registerCustomEditor is defined.

Anyway, here's the class.  I just slapped it into my project, I've never
set up a build of spring on my local box (I haven't had to - it works great :)
so I haven't tried to make it official, written tests, or anything like that.

Maybe this is something that could get included, or maybe the functionality 
folded in MethodInvokingFactoryBean?

For the umpteenth time, I've committed all my changes to CVS HEAD... :-) =

I've introduced a NativeJdbcExtractorAdapter base class that all =
extractors derive from now, simplifying their implementations. =

like having the option of registering my own instances.  Another reason I like

  I like cvs version my favorite tools beacuse I have 56k modem too and it is more easily for upgrade
I learn eclipse plugins, too
Eclipse 3.0M8 have too more bugs and I waiting for You and 1.0.3 version in CVS

Juergen,

I did some additional tests with the WebLogicNativeJdbcExtractor.  It works fine
in 8.1 with the imagedb application as well as my own tests.  It does not seem
to work in 7.0 - I'll keep looking for a solution there.

That's odd - I don't really know why this has changed since 1.0.1. Might =
be worth tracking down the root cause: For example, log an exception =
from the constructor of your class to see the instantiation stacktraces =
(or use a debugger to see those stacktraces). On the other hand, it's =
good that it seems to behave properly now rather than the other way =
round...

I just tried to reproduce it with our code against CVS HEAD and can't
replicate it. Against 1.0.1 I can replicate it every time though.

Should I just assume it's fixed in Spring CVS HEAD and therefore will
be fixed in the next release?
