I've been searching for any documentation for supported tooling scenarios, without results. There's JIRA issue SPR-1919, which after almost a year received the following comment - on april 1st :-) "I'll address this in the timeframe of 'when-someone-asks-about-it'." This comment would be funny, if not for the almost complete absence of JavaDoc on methods close to the "core container": ParserContext, XmlReaderContext, etc. 2) Access of container configuration without access to bean classes. Rod also mentions the possibility to query the container without instantiating or even accessing bean classes. I have a hard time understanding how this would work, as every namespace handler included with spring directly references the class of the bean to be created. For example, look at: -- Class AbstractSingleBeanDefinitionParser#getBeanClass(Element) -- Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, is there some sample / test code available that loads a context definition (including custom namespaces), without access to the bean classes? Hi,
I've got a Spring related class I wrote a couple of years ago that is
obvious enough that it might already exist in Spring but thought I'd mention
it if you would like to take a look.
It is useful in places where a bean might have external dependencies (such
as a JMSFactory that is trying to connect to a remote broker) which could
cause the spring initialization to fail.
Basically it creates a proxy as a place holder bean and the first time a
method on the bean is invoked the proxy tries to create the actual object
(which may or may not fail). This allows the spring startup up to succeed.
The retry semantics of the proxy allow it to recreate the underlying bean as
needed. To continue the example of JMS we use this so that if we forget to
start our broker the server comes up fine, when the broker finally starts it
heals, etc.
The stripped down configuration looks as follows:

jms.xml might contain something like

The property configLocation basically tells the wrapper where to load (and
reload) its configuration with the beanName obviously being the bean in the
spring context to forward invocations to. The interface list of course
defines what is exposed on the proxy.
There's more but I didn't want to overload the email if this either
duplicates existing work in spring or there's no interest. I've also used
it to get around bootstrapping issues with Spring and a legacy framework.
In that case the legacy startup process bootstrap spring, so I wrap
references to the legacy services so I can inject them into POJOs as I would
any other bean even though the services are still being initialized while
the Spring framework is starting.

I'm not sure I understand all of your problem, but we once had a problem that was caused by another request calling setMaxResult on the hibernate template.... Those templates are shared, and you need to create a new one for any request that is going to modify the template settings, such as setMaxResults.... otherwise, this request (or a single query on this request) will set max results to 6, and then another query on the same or next request will only display six results when you're expecting many more. hi i want to do hibernate paging and i use criteria query for that ,and my criteria query got duplicate records and then i used setResultTransformer(Criteria.DISTINCT_ROOT_ENTITY) method to avoid that after i used setFirstResult and setMaxresult bt it wouldnt working my search result has 45 recoreds and but it showing 6 records only without using setResultTransformer(Criteria.DISTINCT_ROOT_ENTITY) method it works fine but getiing duplicate records how can i avoid duplicate record and paging witout above issues pls help me thanks best reguards Saneera |

Could you not use the Maven-Ant tasks to publish? This would allow you to keep your existing Ant build process, but plugin in Maven support... Hi all, Just some quick questions/comments regarding Spring OSGi support. Last year I published an article on using Spring as the basis for a = lightweight plug-in platform (http://www.devx.com/Java/Article/31835). = There was quite a bit of interest in the article at the time. In there = I mentioned that it was a lightweight approach as compared with = industrial plug in platforms like Eclipse or OSGi. With OSGi support forthcoming in Spring, I've been thinking if it = would be possible to take light weight plug-ins and drop them into an = OSGi world so that there would be transparent development path from a = light weight approach to full blown OSGi. My lightweight approach simply used the BeanFactoryPostProcessor = abstraction in spring to allow plug-in beans to find their extension = points and lace them together. I'm wondering if an OSGi style extension = point could be made to support this same approach, so light weight = plug-ins could easily be transformed into OSGI bundles. I actually think that the OSGi programming model is different enough = (and difficult enough) that providing a gateway of lightweight plug-ins = (which are easy to add to any Spring application) to the more industrial = OSGi approach makes a lot of sense. I'd be willing to do the legwork of exploring this sort of = compatibility and donating the code to Spring if there's interest. Thanks, Bryant |

Everybody, The latest 2.0.4 snapshots (41 and the coming 42), available from http://static.springframework.org/downloads/nightly, are effectively release candidates for the upcoming Spring Framework 2.0.4 release, due on Monday. If you have the chance, please give such a recent snapshot a try in your Spring-based applications and test suites, making sure that 2.0.4 will be a seamless drop-in replacement for any previous 2.0.x release. In particular, I'd like to encourage JSP form tag users as well as Velocity and FreeMarker users to give these snapshots a try, since the form tags and the template macros and have been extended and revised in 2.0.4. OK, this is roughly what my analysis from a year ago resulted in. So things haven't changed yet. The idea of building an in-memory XML file is an interesting workaround, but it's a bit of a hack, as you say. We should rather push the iBATIS guys to enhance their programmatic configuration facilities.
