#46 Error with database style composite key compare

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your great work on this app. It does an amazing job. So much so that I am now starting to use the advanced features.

In this spreadsheet, I have no primary key. I need to make a composite compare key of three text columns. If I select Database Style Compare and select by range, start to select the first three columns and get an error: "Please select one Column from the worksheet". Once I add the correct range and click Next or Compare, the window disappears.

Am I using the tool as it was not intended???

Using Word 2007(32bit), Windows 7 (64bit)

In DB mode, the program can only compare one column against another. There is a bug that allows you to keep more than one in the area selector box when it shouldn't. What you will need to try is to add a new column and concatenate the three columns you want into one (=Concatenate(...)) to provide a unique single column key.

You sure can, though it will be low priority as not many would use it and it would require some work.

The purpose is to make it easier to select a column than it is to determine the column number (i.e. what is the column number for column 'P'). 99% percent of the time people will have a key in column 1, so that is the default.
