Good news from me again: I have also resolved the issue with my ML-1630, but not by authorizing the rastertoqpdl as Fulvio suggested. The rastertoqpdl remain as default authorizied. I also followed the guide from https://github.com/peekpt/Old-Samsung-Printer-Splix-Catalina, and it worked well except for one point: during the step of editing the file in nano, when I extended the line with the complete path of rastertoqpdl, the line was automatically saved as two lines when I pressed Ctrl+O (to write...

Hi Fulvio, I'm so glad to see your post. I also followed the steps in the provided link to install my ML-1630, but I encountered a similar issue. Although the printer has been added, it is unable to receive print jobs from any apps. I noticed that you mentioned encountering a security prompt and autorizing the filter rastertoqpdl. Where can I encounter this security prompt? Or should I proactively set the execution permission for the filter file rastertoqpdl myself? I'm using macOS 12.6.6 Monterey,...

Resolved! Anyone this may help: tried again following the instructions given here: https://github.com/peekpt/Old-Samsung-Printer-Splix-Catalina a "rastertoqpdl cannot be run as it is from an unauthorized developer" window popped up. From the security menu I authorized the opening of rastertoqpdl and... voilà!

Hello all, I can't get my (old but still great) Samsung ML-1630 printer to work on MacOS Ventura (M1). I tried and tried to use Splix following these directions: https://github.com/peekpt/Old-Samsung-Printer-Splix-Catalina but unfortunately it didn't work (the printer shows no signs of life). I tried to use the similar models file but the printer only printed a "please use the proper driver" warning. Thanks in advance for the help!

As splix is closer to the hardware, perhaps you can advise. Or suggest where to ask. When I turn the printer on, its lights turned on for a short while, and it turns off. lsusb doesn't see it. But by pressing two of the printers keys at the same time, I can make it enters a state which is unlimited in time, where $ lsusb Bus (some bus) Device (some device): ID 0000:0000 Samsung BOOT-DOWNLOAD and lsusb -v will identify it as of type printer. ...6 years later...I had this issue and it was because on the remote Linux machine I had added the printer using the SpliX driver. This is not correct as then your print jobs will be put through the SpliX driver twice - once on your machine and then again on the print server where it will of course fail. You'll see "SpliX Cannot open job" but unfortunately not much else useful in the log to explain the problem. Instead on the remote machine add the printer through CUPs and select the 'raw' driver...

For 10 years, I've had my cheap color laser printer... If it's still made, I would suggest this model. Last forever, the cartridges. I'm on my second one, and I think I've paid about $10 on ebay for it. My father has a brother, and he didn't have a problem. It looks like a slightly stronger unit than my Samsung, but I don't think any of you will go wrong. Whatever you buy, make sure you get cheap dirt from the cartridges. Also, try to see with one cartridge how many prints you can get.

Hey Devs, can you please include this PDD for Samsung ML-1860/1865 in the splix packages? I'm not affiliated with the creator, so maybe you should leave an issue on GitHub to let him now. Anyway, this has saved my life many times. It's working perfectly and it's the only available solution for this model! I only forget sometimes, that it's not in the splix package and that I have to manually download the PPD from the link above. Best Marco

Apologies, but on further testing I have noticed that my above patch is not perfect. It only works with A4 paper size @ 600dpi. It appears that the M2026 expects the bandwidth in bytes to be a multiple of 32 and maybe also expects it to be exactly the same as the bandwidth generated by the Samsung ULD. The following formula replicates the ULD bandwidth for A4 and Letter @ 600dpi and 1200dpi: bandWidthInB = round((pageWidth - floor(page->convertToXResolution(request.printer()->hardMarginX())))/256)*32;...

Although it seems that Splix works fine on other members of the Samsung 202X family (see for example http://www.openprinting.org/printer/Samsung/Samsung-M2022W ), I could not get it to work with my M2026. The printer ingested paper but just passed it through without printing anything. Tested CLP 315 on fresh install of Debian stretch with printer drivers included in installation options, no further configuration. CUPS system-config-printer application succesfully prints test page and configures printer settings. Toner levels are not reported. Document printed from LibreOffice printed. In all cases, margins are out: Test page border is ~6mm from left edge, ~1mm from right, ~6mm from top, ~3mm from bottom.
