I'm happy to say that we finally have a SourceJammer Eclipse plugin under development. It still needs some enhancing and lots more testing, but the skeleton is in place. Anyone who is really interested in testing this, I've got all the stuff you need to install it in the dev.sourcejammer.org archive. Connect your SJ client to: http://dev.sourcejammer.org/servlet/rpcrouter user=anon pwd=anon archive=SourceJammer Location=/extensions/sj-eclipse/dist To install the plugin (and please, this is early early alpha stuff), just create a directory in the Eclipse plugins directory. I think you can call it what you like, but I've been using sj_eclipse in my testing. We'll use something more long winded someday. Then just put all the files in that dist folder into the plugin directory you create. Re-start Eclipse and you should be in business. This is an Eclipse 3.0 plugin, by the way. Here's what it can do so far (using the right-click popup menu): * Get file(s) * Check in file(s) * Check out file(s) You need to go to your preferences to point the plugin to your SJ client install directory. And you also need to set the properties at the project level. On the properties page, relative path means the relative path within your SJ archive for the root of the Eclipse project. For example, if you have an Eclipse project for sj-client-2.1, the relative path for the code in the SourceJammer archive would be "/current/ver2.1/src/client/". Leading and trailing slashes are required (for now, at least). No quote marks, obviously. Well, please try it out and give me feedback. I'll post again when I've added more functionality. --Rob __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Sports - Sign up for Fantasy Baseball. http://baseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/ |

Hi, Thomas. Just to be absolutely clear, did you set the encoding style for xml and text in the config file on your server? Is the encoding style set the same way on your client as well? If so, then I'm not sure what the problem could be. There should be no difference in how SJ behaves on a Linux server as compared to a Windows server. It could be that some additional localization configuration is necessary on the server in general, but I'm really not an expert in this particular area. --Rob --- Thomas Werner <tho...@me...> wrote: > Hi, > > i'm using the sourcejammer client and server on windows for nearly a year and it > allways worked fine. Hi, i'm using the sourcejammer client and server on windows for nearly a year and it allways worked fine. Now i've set up a linux server and applied all the necessary configuration for german encoding. This configuration works fine on the windows machine, the linux server still seems to ignore it. All german umlauts get replaced by question marks. I used the same client machine for contacting both servers. The three machines are configured as follows: Client: Windows XP SP 2, JDK & JRE 1.4.0.2_6, SourceJammer client 2.1 Win-Server: Windows 2003, JDK & JRE 1.4.0.2_6, SourceJammer server 2.1 Linux-Server: Suse Linux 9.1, JDK & JRE 1.4.0.2_6, SourceJammer server 2.1 Thanks for your help! Hi, David. Sorry for your trouble. I've seen this weird error from time to time myself, and I am not sure what the root cause is. But I suspect that what is happening is that there is an empty file or "project" metadata file somewhere out there. The trick is to drill your way through the project meta data files until you find the project that is giving you the error messages when you browse it. Was this the file you attempted to edit? You can find this file by following some of the guidelines in this doc: http://www.sourcejammer.org/docAboutServerFiles.html Once you find the project, you'll have to inspect all of its child files (both project and file), to see which one is corrupt. It will probably be obvious. As I said, the file will probably be blank. Once you've done this, you can delete the reference to the offending project/file from the parent project file. Then re-start your SJ server. I know this is a complete pain. We are about to start development on a 2.2 release, and I think some kind of corruption cleanup utility would be a nice thing to have. Obviously, in an ideal world, issues like this would never occur. But until we can guarantee that they won't, it would be nice if SJ at least recognized what the problem was and prompted you to clean out corrupt file reference instead of crapping out completely. Hopefully this is helpful. --Rob PS: My guess is that it is a recently added file or folder that is causing the trouble, so hopefully you won't actually lose any data. Good luck. --- David Rickard <Dav...@te...> wrote: > Source Jammer: 2.1.0.0 > Tomcat: 4.1.29 > Java: j2sdk1.4.2_02 > Server: SunOS 5.8 Generic_108528-14 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-5_10 > > We've been using SourceJammer for 1-2 years now, generally without > complaint. Hi, Rich. Thanks for your comments. You're right that you can't do what you're suggesting with the current version of SJ. Each SJ folder maps to one and only one default local directory. Far be it from me to tell you how to manage your files, but I'd prefer to encourage people to set up their local file structure to mimic the structure they want to have in their SJ archive. Even if there were no problem from a programming perspective in adding the feature that you want, I'd be worried about it being "dangerous in the wrong hands." Personally, I'm not sure this is a feature I'd want in SJ. But I'd like to hear what others think. I've been known to be swayed when multiple people ask for the same feature. Thanks again. --Rob --- R M Willems <rmw...@co...> wrote: > Hello, > > This is either a how-do-I-do-this question or a RFE. Hello, This is either a how-do-I-do-this question or a RFE. The user docs say = that an archive folder must be mated with a local directory before files = can be added to the folder. No problem there. What does "Default" in the = phrase "Set Default Directory" mean ? The implication is that, for a = given folder, I could have multiple directories that feed into it. Where = am I going with this you ask ? I'd rather not create a structure in the = archive that exactly matches the structure on my disk if I don't have = to. Sometimes the tools I use create lots of directory levels that I'd = rather not replicate in the archive. Sometimes I'd like to group files = together that aren't grouped together on the hard drive. A specific = example would probably help: My InstallAnywhereNow installer-maker tool puts its output file, a = self-extracting exe file, several levels deep in a directory structure = it likes to create. I have a few programs that I use the tool to make = self-extracting exe files for. So, if I had to replicate all of the = levels for each of the programs I create, we're talking lots of folders = in the archive. I know I don't have to put all of the intermediate = directory levels in the archive, but I'd also like to collect all of the = self-extracting exe files in one place in the archive, and I don't think = SourceJammer will let me. I think once I map an archive folder to a = directory, SourceJammer expects all of the files in the folder to be in = that same directory. I'd like it if, for a given archive folder, = individual files in that folder could be in different places on my hard = disk. Given that the disk looks like this directoryA contains: directoryB contains: directoryC contains: = self-extracting exe file named abc.exe AND directoryD contains: directoryE contains: directoryF contains: a = different self-extracting exe file, this one named def.exe AND directoryG contains: directoryH contains: directoryI contains: a = different self-extracting exe file, this one named ghi.exe I'd like one folder in the archive to be named "Installers" and contain = the three self-extracting exe files named abc.exe and def.exe and = ghi.exe. The default directory for the folder could be either directoryC or = directoryF or directoryI. Let's say for argument's sake it was directoryC. If so, I wouldn't have to do anything more for abc.exe other than to add = it to the archive. For the def.exe and ghi.exe files I'd have to override the default = directory. Can I do this with the current version of SourceJammer ? Any plans to do = this in the future ? Thanks for listening and thanks for the free version control program, Rich W |

Instead of db-srv as the server, you may have to use: http://localhost:8080 depending on how you have your SSH tunnel set up. If you have specified port 8080 on the client side of the tunnel and 8080 on your server then the above should work. If, say, you've mapped 12345 on the client side of the tunnel and 8080 on the server side, then you would use http://localhost:12345 --- James N Parsells <ni...@20...> wrote: > Hi Stan, > > I'm still working on this sourcejammer problem here > at the office. Hi, James, The SSH message indicates that the server and client may be using and expecting different versions of the SSH protocol (versions 1 and 2). Typically, a server will be set up to recognize both SSH versions 1 and 2. In my case I deliberately set the server to recognize only version 2 so anyone that wanted to connect would have to have a version client. Rob, might be right on the Tomcat version. I upgraded from version 3 to 4 and it was easy with the exception of tracking down where JAVA_HOME was set. Hi, Jonathan. Are you sure that the server URL is correct in your client-side connection definition? Should be something like this: http://my-server:8080/sourcejammer/servlet/rpcrouter Obviously, use the actual url of your server and the actual port number for Resin (if required). Double check the spelling of "rpcrouter". --Rob --- Jonathan Sarabia <jon...@gm...> wrote: > The text of the error is: > > SourceJammer is having trouble communicating with the server. Hi, Daniel. Thanks for your nice comments. To answer your question: no, SourceJammer development is not finished. We took a break for a while, but right now we are beginning discussions on what to included in the 2.2 release. There will also be a new version of the client and an Eclipse plugin released soon. I should update the SJ news to announce some of this stuff. In case you're interested in working on the new release, you might want to subscribe to the sourcejammer-devel mail list. Indeed it should. Try hitting your-server:8080 with a web browser. If TC is running, you should see something there with the tomcat log and all that. If that works, try your-server:8080/sourcejammer and see if you see a nice page with the SourceJammer logo. This will tell us how far along we are, anyway. If you're using startup.sh, you should probably get some kind of log output on the console. This might provide some clues. You should get some startup messages from SJ. If you don't see the log on the console, try tail-ing the stdout log in the TC logs directory. I think that's the right one. But sometimes the log to watch is one of those with a funky long name that includes the date. --Rob --- James N Parsells <ni...@20...> wrote: > I found out the problem.. This sounds like it might have something to do with the way your server or firewall or something like that is configured. Are you trying to use SSH tunneling? Or is port 8080 supposed to simply be wide open on your server? I'm pretty much at a loss. Is there anything more you can tell me abou the way your server is configured and how you're trying to access it? Could something else be using prot 8080? Can you hit http://db-srv:8080/sourcejammer with a web browser? Are you really just trying to hit http://db-srv:8080 with your sourcejammer client? Correct URL should be http://db-srv:8080/sourcejammer/servlet/rpcrouter. --Rob --- James N Parsells <ni...@20...> wrote: > Hello, > > Thank you for replying to me so quickly. Hi, James. First of all, I'm not sure if Tomcat 3.x is compatible with java 1.4.x. I could be wrong. I'm also not sure if SJ 2.1 works with TC 3.x. Is there a particular reason you want to use TC 3.3.2? You could try TC 5.x. It's very slick and a lot faster than 3 or 4. Second, are you using SSH in some capacity on purpose? Or is this something that just jumped out without a good reason? I know it's possible to run SJ over SSH, but I've never done that myself. I believe the concept is called SSH tunneling, but I don't know much more than that. --Rob --- James N Parsells <ni...@20...> wrote: > Hello, > > I recently downloaded and configured sourcejammer 2.1 / tomcat 3.3.2 / > j2re 1.4.1 > > after everything was configured and running i went to http://db-srv:8080 > and saw SSH-1.99-OpenSSH_3.6.1p2 Protocol mismatch > > while trying to create my archive with the sourcejammer client I > received the following error: SourceJammer is having trouble > communicating with the server. I don't think that's the cause. I can open the .source.jam files. I believe what Windows does not tolerate is a filename with just extension, because if it hided its extension (as it does by default), then the shown filename would be empty. The point is that SJ cannot remember (nor use) the configuration that I enter in the advanced properties panel. If you type something in the un/hide files command fields, close the client and reopen it, does what you had written appear in the fields?
