Sorry for the sequential posting, I had forgotten this in the previous one. Which VM is SJ using to run? I have more than one installed, and the client is not using the one under JAVA_HOME. I guess it was picked up when it was installed, but how can I tell it to use a different one? Thanks, Albert. |

Hello. Is there something wrong with the command to hide the .source.jam files in Windows? Even though I set it in the advanced preferences tab, the source.jam never get hidden. And then, when I reopen the client and go to that panel, the filed is empty again, so it is not being saved. Is that just my problem, or is it a bug? Albert. |

Rob, A shadow folder sounds about right. Sorry I havn't responded to any messages, I didn't subscribe to the list. (I was really brain dead last weekend.) I'll have to think about the following recomended below: * SJ ant task * Shadow Folder- plugin in development * Sync files using Sync-Jammer Sorry I wasn't on the list earlier, but I'm on it now and I'm really glad I have some options. I agree with Albert. This sounds like that old bug. Can you figure out what folder name (I'm pretty sure it's a folder) is causing the problem? Let me know and I'll try to give you some tips on how to fix the problem. Hi, Jeremy. Another option would be an Ant script. There is an SJ ant task that will get all the latest file from a given SourceJammer folder. PS: I believe that someone was developing a shadow folder plugin. I have no idea what the status is, though. Hello, Brandon. We have not met this error in the 2.1 version, so I am not sure whether w= hat I'll tell you is exact, as in previous versions the error message was not= as detailed as yours, but it may help you. There's a bug that does not allow using chars like '&' and '+' (and perha= ps '<' or '>') in folder or file names. If you have a non-strictly alphanumeric character in the problematic name, then there you are. Mind that things l= ike '=E1' or '=FC' also provoke trouble, but that can be mended by setting the ISO = encoding. To fix the prohibitted char problem, you'll have to edit the server XML f= iles and change its name. I am not telling you how to exactly proceed because = still don't know if that's the cause, but if it looks like it, ask again and we= 'll try to help. Cheers, Albert. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Brandon Oh" <bra...@gm...> To: <sou...@li...> Sent: Sunday, January 23, 2005 10:19 AM Subject: [SourceJammer-users] Error in accessing folders > Hi, > > I have installed the SourceJammer (Version 2.1.0.0) and it was great > product. Hi, Jeremy. I am not sure about having understood you, but do you want what is called "shadow folder" in VSS? There's not currently that functionality, though it can be developed by using server-side plugins. There's a workaround, that is not as good as the auto-synchronisation, but that may suit you, and involves setting up a periodical script that gets the latest versions of the files, either by using the command-line interface or with SyncJammer. Albert. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jeremy Peterson" <jer...@co...> To: <sou...@li...> Sent: Saturday, January 22, 2005 2:31 PM Subject: [SourceJammer-users] Keep Archive and Web content > Hi all, > > I new to source jammer and I like the setup. Hi, I have installed the SourceJammer (Version 2.1.0.0) and it was great product. Well Done !! The product works well till recently I have problem in accessing 2 of folders with the following error message: Error Message 1: INVALID_CHARACTER_ERR: An invalid character was specified, such as in a name. Error Message 2: Invalid NodeInfo string. 1, 464, Invalid NodeInfo string Invalid NodeInfo string. 1, 464, Invalid NodeInfo string Java Version: [root@s1]# java -version java version "1.4.2_04" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_04-b05) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_04-b05, mixed mode) Is there any workaround for the above problems? Thanks for your great help. -- Best Regards, Brandon |

Hi all, I new to source jammer and I like the setup. There is one thing that our environment would love to have setup. (It's always one more thing...) Basically, our environment has web files (xml to be precise) that require the use of source control. We'd like to create an archive and use it for source control and have the web folder updated with the current version. Is there a way to do this with SourceJammer? Hello, I am attempting to do a checkout using the following method from the simpleInterface: checkOutFile(long fileID, java.lang.String fileName, java.io.File targetDir, int eolType) I keep getting the following error: java.lang.NullPointerException at org.sourcejammer.client.gui.CommandCentral.getSelectedFileNodeInfo(Unknown Source) Here are the values before the method call: the filename:ae.jar the targetdir:C:\temp the file id:222 eolType = 3; I got the file id from NodeInfo.getUniqueId(), as far as I can tell all of the values are valid, is there something else I may be overlooking? Thanks Brian |

Hi, Marcelo. Well, yes, it's been a while. But luckily, Timo is making some nice improvements to the client. Hopefully there will be a new client release fairly soon. Hi, Linda. You don't even get the print dialog? I don't know why that would happen. You can also find the user's guide here: http://www.sourcejammer.org/usersguide21/ You can't print the whole thing at once, but you should be able to at least print one section at a time from your web browser. I hope this helps you. Thanks. --Rob --- Linda Cochran <Lin...@ms...> wrote: > Dear SourceJammer, > > Is there a way to print your user's guide? It would make it easier for me > to study. Dear SourceJammer, Is there a way to print your user's guide? It would make it easier for me to study. I have had no luck printing when I bring up the product Help (despite the huge Print button, nothing happens). Thanks for your help. No problem - the version did solve the .exe problem. I checked and Java doesn't seem to do a great job of registry cleaning - all of the 1.4 information was still in the registry even though I had uninstalled it. I think the file dialog does have something to do with network shares as well. I use offline files and that may also have something to do with it. I don't see the delay in other applications, but it is a new laptop so I have only been using it for this week so far. Maybe I'll see it somewhere else later (I have seen it in the past on other machines but I can't remember what application). The tree is working for now so I can at least continue working. Thanks again for all the help and keep up the good work. -----Original Message----- From: Robert MacGrogan [mailto:rob...@ya...] Sent: Wednesday, January 12, 2005 11:02 AM To: Patrick Cross; sou...@li... No. I wish there was. This is something I thought about doing a while back, but never actually worked on. VSS provides a command line interface. My idea was to automate the VSS CL with a little java app, parse the responses, and crawl through all of your VSS "projects" and then automate an SJ client and create the same "projects" and file and history. This would probably not be that hard to build, and on the SJ side, there's a simple api you can use to automate the client. Let me know if this is something you guys might want to work on. If so, I'd be happy to help out and would hope to share the results with other people (such as myself) looking to migrate old VSS repositories to SJ. Rob, Thanks for the information on SyncJammer. It sounds wonderful! I am working in a development environment that has 17 developers, hence the need for SourceJammer. These developers work on any number of our 58 live sites. My proposed synchronization is basically a way to lock down the live servers and only add files from a repository server (running SourceJammer) to the respective servers. So, if I have a SourceJammer Client on the repository server, and can get actual files to synchronize with, I will be golden. Of course, I need to keep the version control aspect, and don't want to have to manually update my repository files every time one of the developers adds files. That being said, my ideal situation would be the following: - developer checks new files into SourceJammer - "something" causes the SourceJammer client on the repository server to update the actual files in its structure. - an application is launched that finds new and changed files and FTPs them to the server that they are associated with. I am just trying to keep the developers from accessing the live servers directly while maintaining a versioning environment in case of file corruption or developer malfunction (bad code). :-) Thanks again! Hi, Dan. Why do you need to synchronize the code to multiple servers? Is this for backup purposes? Regardless, I developed a little utility that can synchronize files from one server to another. It's command line based and can easily be wrapped in a cron job. It uses FTP and is "smart" enough to only send new files or files that have changed. It only synchronizes one way, however, and it does not track deleted files. If you're interested, this project is called SyncJammer and you can get it from http://syncjammer.sourceforge.net --Rob --- Dan Bish <db...@ge...> wrote: > I have several servers that I need to synchronize with the code on my repository server, in > various archives. Hi. Thanks for continuing to look into this. I'm sure we're going to solve this problem. When the SJ client sends a file, the file is sent via soap, as an http attachment, in it's binary form. The file is not encoded when it is sent. If you want to look at the code that sends the file, you can look at the UploaderProxy class in org.sourcejammer.client When the server recieves a text file, yes, all encoding should be done with the TextLineReader class. You mentioned in your previous email that you did not set the encoding for your client. The client must also do encoding when it recieves files, so you should set your client-side encoding as well. Here are a few tips to help you debug. 1) When a file is first uploaded to the server (before any encoding is done) the file is temporarily stored in the _temp directory in your server's WEB-INF/conf directory. After you add or check in a file, you can look for the file here and see if it has been altered by the process of being sent from client to server. 2) After the server encodes the file and adds it to your archive, the file is stored in plain text in the source directory under your archives/[archive name] directory. You can also look at the file here to see if it is being stored properly on the server. For an explanation of how to find files stored in your [archive name] directory, read this doc: http://www.sourcejammer.org/docAboutServerFiles.html Good luck. Please let me know if you have any more questions.
