Debian doesn't have GTK1 at all anymore (i certainly can't find it in my Ubuntu 10.10 here), so there was little choice I think. Also GTK1 was deprecated 10 years ago. > I'm not sure how to deal with this constructively. GTK3 is only in the planning stages, so GTK2 is the only one to use right now :) I just tried the GTK2 soundtracker with your patch and while it works some things are broken. But I think it would not be very hard to have it all updated. Here performances does not seem to be a problem. It reacts to keypresses immediately and plays notes without delay (only the SDL driver was working for me, but I don't have Jack installed). It also uses "0% CPU" while playing an XM song. It's just that there's lots of GTK warnings on startup and some buttons (e.g. the Play button) are missing. > I like Soundtracker for being very robust and reliable. So I'm still attached to Soundtracker as well. I don't have much time but in a few weeks I might be able try and fix some of the GTK2 warnings coming up when starting it, if nobody else gets around to. Is there a public source code repository for soundtracker someone here has access to and can give commit rights to interested people? soundtracker.org appears to be still up and google also finds a sourceforge project... Else maybe we should start a new repository for the gtk2 version (e.g. on github) and see how it goes - and if the gtk2 version can be made all working figure out how to submit it to Debian again.
