I recently swapped an 8TB drive and copied the data to a 14TB drive. The drive is called DATADISK5 as per below status output. As per below, it shows up with 5TB 'wasted space'. But this can't be right as the parity file is just over 5TB which matches the largest set of data on the disk. Is this just an error in the calculation (somehow)? The array is fully synced...
TY for any advice... I suppose it's not a problem as such. Just a little annoying for my OCD... I just cannot work out why this is showing! :-)
I think that 5923.7 GB wasted is the amount that cannot be assigned to Free GB because Parity Disk has not enough space to generate parity data for this.
Currently everything is fine, because you don't use this space yet, but you clearly see that of that 14TB disk you can use only less than 8TB in total - otherwise you will run out of space on parity drive.

I added my 6TB as split parity (making up 14TB in parity disks total) and now I get the following:
So much happier with this now! :-)
