CertIndex.com Webmaster: > no, the pgsql port of bender being bender, which is now considered > alpha. Ah, sorry. I believe the development is done on MySql and the team is waiting for feedback from people actually running the PostgreSQL port. Unfortunately I couldn't contribute at all until now but I plan to install soon a beta installation. -- Alessio F. Bragadini al...@se... |

D'oh! Sorry, folks, those PDFs are not for the public, and have been moved. There will be an HTML version of selected chapters of the book on www.slashbook.org soon, though. On the subject of "BTW", you wrote: >Did you notice the site_info table? OR the new httpd.conf stuff? site_info table, no, but I did make use of the httpd.conf stuff when I switched from RHL to FreeBSD recently. There were a few gotchas involved in getting Bender running under FreeBSD, BTW... no such things as runlevels or the init.d directory, for example; daemon startup goes in /etc/rc.local. As a weak workaround, I created /etc/rc.d/ and /etc/rc.d/init.d to enable the installer to go to completion, and then edited rc.local manually. >BTW, I removed (as of today) the blocks being owned by >anyone. Wojtek wrote: > a couple screenfulls of this, i guess that it's the fault of postgresql schema > not being up to date. when is it going to be fixed? Just looked at it. The schema was off (so columns were not lining up during the dump). I solved that, it is still reporting duplicate keys though during the insert (which turned out to be an incompatibility between postgreSQL and MySQL/Oracle). So, give it a shot now and see if it works. -Brian |

Welp, I started over from scratch, useing nothing from any Debian distributions (except perl 5.6). Tony, I'm thinking you might be better off upgrading your setup to Apache 1.3.14 and mod_perl 1.24_01. While developing Bender, we did have problems with setups that did not satisfy this requirement. - Cliff On Sun, 21 Jan 2001 16:22:28 -0500, Tony Buser said: > more info... running "strace -f apachectl start" ends in: > > --- SIGSEGV (Segmentation fault) --- > > Only other odd things I see in the output are several: > > read(6, 0x8667e78, 8192) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily unavailable) > > That seem to keep popping up after the output of: > > write(6, "9\0\0\0\3SELECT * FROM menus WHERE m"..., 61) = 61 > > Other info: > > thefinn:/# apache -l > Compiled-in modules: > http_core.c > mod_so.c > mod_perl.c > mod_macro.c > > thefinn:/# apache -v > Server version: Apache/1.3.9 (Unix) Debian/GNU > Server built: Apr 30 2000 12:54:24 > > thefinn:/# mysqld -v > mysqld Ver 3.22.32 for pc-linux-gnu on i586 > > >from CPAN shell, install Bundle::Slash says everything is up to date. > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Tony Buser" <gr...@ju...> > To: <sla...@li...> > Sent: Sunday, January 21, 2001 2:55 PM > Subject: Re: [Slashcode-development] problem running bender on debian > > > > Other possibly related errors in slashd.log: > > > > Sun Jan 21 19:37:10 2001 Doing Hourly Update > > TIME:3863:3600:980105830:980101967: > > TIME:3874:3600:980105830:980101956: > > DBD::mysql::st fetchrow failed: fetch() without execute() at > > /usr/local/lib/site > > _perl/i386-linux/Slash/DB/Static/MySQL.pm line 314. > > > > Anyone have any ideas? > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: "Tony Buser" <gr...@ju...> > > To: <sla...@li...> > > Sent: Sunday, January 21, 2001 2:10 PM > > Subject: [Slashcode-development] problem running bender on debian > > > > > > > After pulling my hair out and installing perl modules manually instead > of > > > using CPAN shell or apt-get, I think I finally have all the required > stuff > > > installed and setup... however whenever I try to start apache, it > > > immediately crashes and the following error shows up in apache's > > error.log: > > > > > > Issuing rollback() for database handle being DESTROY'd without explicit > > > disconnect(). > > > > > > Heeeeeeelp! > > > > > > > > _______________________________________________ > > Slashcode-development mailing list > > Sla...@li... > > http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/slashcode-development > > > > > _______________________________________________ > Slashcode-development mailing list > Sla...@li... > http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/slashcode-development > > > |

After pulling my hair out and installing perl modules manually instead of using CPAN shell or apt-get, I think I finally have all the required stuff installed and setup... however whenever I try to start apache, it immediately crashes and the following error shows up in apache's error.log: Issuing rollback() for database handle being DESTROY'd without explicit disconnect(). I've noticed this behaviour. My account (alessio) has a comment threshold of 0. If I connect to <http://slashcode.com/index.pl> today, I see "Bender becomes a Beta" and two links "14 of 16 comments", 14=>threshold=0, 16=>threshold=-1. Fine. But in "Slashcode and Postgresql" I see only "6 comments" 6=>threshold=-1, while there are some comments at -1 which should be filtered out. If fact, it should read "2 of 6 comments". Why this different behaviour? The only thing that comes to my mind is that "Slashcode and Postgresql" is in "Ask Slashcode" section while the other one is in main. P.S. Which version is currently running slashcode.com? -- Alessio F. Bragadini al...@al...
