#675 Open Recent doesn't work
I'm sure someone else would have reported this problem by now, but I can't find it. But File:Open Recent... just doesn't work. I've tried opening files from the standard open menu, double-clicking PDF files (Skim is the default App), and dragging and dropping PDF files onto the application icon. But no matter how I open a PDF file, it never shows up in my "Open Recent" list after I close it. Please support this. My PDFs are not centrally located, so navigating to often-used files is a time-waster for me.
Never mind. I had set the System Preferences:Appearance:Number of Recent items:Documents to zero. Once I increased it, it worked as normal. DUH!
Open recent doesn't work for me - I get an error message that says 'The document [name of document here] could not be opened because it doesn't exist.' The list of documents recently opened is fine, when I click on one I get that error. I'm using Mac OS 10.13.6. This has been a problem forever, I figured it'd be fixed by now.
Recent documents are managed by the system, we cannot even influence any of this. So if you want to report a problem you should direct this to Apple, not us.
If recent documents are managed by the system, then why does that feature work in every other app I have installed (that has an "Open Recents" feature) except for Skim? The only logical conclusion is that there is a bug in Skim that has the effect o either not remembering recently opened documents or not populating the "Open Recent" menu item (under the "File" main menu) with the most recently opened documents.
