Summary:
Forward and backward scrolling in presentation mode with Logitech Spotlight Presenter is no longer possible after using the highlight function.
Detailed Description:
After opening a PDF in presentation mode, the pages cannot be scrolled forward or backward after using the highlight function of the Logitech Spotlight Presenter; only a click is heard. The keyboard also no longer responds.
Only forward scrolling with the highlight button works. I have also found that a double click allows forward and backward scrolling. A full close and reopening of Skim does not always resolve the problem. Apple Preview and Adobe Acrobat work without difficulty.
Problem could be traced to the 2nd device.
Steps to Reproduce
Configuration
I have really no idea what is going on. What precisely does the highlight function do (I am not familiar with the Logitech Spotlight Presenter)? And how would you navigate in Presentation mode? note that there are many ways to navigate in Presentation modes, with many shortcuts and by clicking.
Also, does this persist if you turn off the note taking functionality in presentation mode? You can turn this off by clicking the Pointer icon in the navigation panel (move the cursor to the bottom of the screen), or hit Comma, and uncheck the note taking button near the right of the cursor panel that should pop up.
Thank you for the follow-up question.
I have unsuccessfully deactivated the notes.
I have created a small video for the highlight function.
Do none of the keyboard shortcuts work, including Option-DownArrow and Escape? And what about using the mouse?
If the keyboard shortcuts don't work, we are losing the focus. We don't remove the focus, so the LPS must do that, which means it's their problem. I really cannot see how we could fix that.
Escape and mouse/trackpad are working. All other applications also work. Even on the desktop the highlight function works, so they somehow enable it system-wide.
But what doesn't work, doesn't work.
Thank you very much for your help.
Can you be more clear than what does not work? Do the problems occur after you used the spotlight highlight witgh Skim in Presentation mode? And when you say that scrolling does not work (I assume you mean page navigation, because you cannot scroll in Presentation mode) how are you trying to navigate, that does not work?
I put a test version with some more accessibility at https://skim-app.sourceforge.io/Skim.zip. Could you download this and try ot to see if this fixes the issue?
The presenter has a forward and back button, and on the keyboard I mean the left and right or up and down arrow keys, respectively for the next or previous slide. After pressing the highlight button on the presenter, the problem occurs.
Unfortunately, I have tested your new version (thank you very much for your work) without success.
I will order a presenter with highlight function from another manufacturer and test it first. So it will take a few days until I get a response.
