#1230 Converted PDF (from .mobi) won't highlight

I have some PDFs that I converted from .mobi files. I cannot highlight any text. I can select text and see the colored highlight but when I let go of the mouse button (to make the highlight permanent), it disappears. I can make highlights in Acrobat and Preview.

    What is you OS and Skim version? Are the highlights added in the notes
    table? Can you highlight in the text tol mode? And can you higblight in
    other PDFs?

      OSX: 10.13.2
      Skim: Version 1.4.32 (106)

      Other PDFs can highlight, yes.I can select text and it turns blue (like any other text selection), but if I try to highlight (yellow, in my case), it appears for <1s and then disappears and doesn’t make a permanent highlight.

        Also, I should note that other annotations are possible. Adding a shape or anchor note works.

            In other PDFs I can select and paste. In these coverted PDFs, I can select, but copy and paste does not work.

              If you cannot copy and paste than it means that either the conversion did
              not properly write the text, or Apple's PDFKit cannot interpret the text.
              In both cases there is nothing we can do, as we depend on PDFKit to get the
              text to highlight.
