Sort in date order - settings not retained

When I open simple check to see the relevant mailboxes and messages within them (show result window) all of the messages are sorted via the column called From. When I click on the Date column, to sort, and close down the window then  re-open it again it is sorted in the From column again and not the Date column... Most frustrating. Can anyone help me?

You have to click the Close button in the *lower right* corner for the settings to be saved, and this also includes the window size and postion.  Clicking the standard Window Close button (the X) or hitting Esc is kinda like cancelling out of the window and the settings aren't saved.
