i'm getting an error warning: Assertion [useCount==00] failed as /Users/kevino/oss/wx26/wxWidgets/ contrib/src/stc/scintilla/src/Editor.cxx 216 i'm running OS 10.4.7 and i've just installed v.1.5.2R22 and started poking around in it... after an unsuccessful try w/ v.SEPY_1.0.6.78, and then i installed python-2.5-macosx... and to be quite honest, i'm pretty new to AS and have never even opened my terminal or console to do anything but mess things up... is there something i can do to get rid of this error message? besides the error message, it seems to work OK. and i can see why it was recommended to me. why does the flash AS editor suck so bad? thanks, -WILBUR |

Hi, SEPY could have been the best AS editor for mac osx but with this "Assertion failure..." bug, it's unusable. any updates on the mac version? bug fixes perhaps? I saw a new build 1.5.2RC23 but I could only find Windows installation. Can a mac install be created? thanks. |

It looks like a new version of wxPython was released - does this help? From http://www.wxpython.org/recentchanges.php Made necessaary changes for building wxPython for Python 2.5. There may still be some issues related to the new Py_ssize_t type and 64-bit machines, but at least all compile errors and warnings related to it have been resolved. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/%7CPY-macdev--Intel-Mac-Errors-tf1780065.html#a5594233 Sent from the sepy-macdev forum at Nabble.com. |

I'm sorry but that's not a bug but simply wxPython was compiled with a debug version of scintilla and so that happens. I'm waiting for a new updated version of wxpython before I can release a new sepy one Alec McEachran ha scritto: > Hi, > > I have found the following errors with SEPY so far, and wanted to > compare notes. Alec, I can't offer any advice on Intel Mac usage, as I'm running a regular old G5, but I can tell you that SEPY on the Mac has been unfortunate at best. I, too, loved it on the PC, but the kinds of bugs that exist in the Mac version just render it very Beta-ish. I doubt your errors are simply because you are running on an Intel Mac. The good news is that you have an Intel Mac, and can get Parallels ( http://www.parallels.com/en/products/desktop/ ) and run the PC version of SEPY in that, if you really want the best of both worlds. SEPY has some wonderful features, and any other text editor is not going to have parity with it (nor it with any other editor). But if you'd be willing to entertain another text editor for your ActionScript, I can heartily recommend TextMate. It's not free, but it's not expensive either. It's a Mac app through and through, so no "Python ports to the Mac" weirdness. It has built-in AS support and a lot of really great features that I find myself depending on now. Another option is Eclipse, which is a Java app but as far as those go, it's very stable and runs smoothly on my Mac. I don't use it a whole lot, but there is an ActionScript plug in for it, as well, and it, too, has some really really nice features. I ran into a few bugs the last time I was using it, but nothing like the SEPY bugs. It's very usable and very well thought out. And if you bought Macromedia Studio, you always have Dreamweaver, which has always been a better code editor than the Flash IDE. I put myself to using it at length once, and it's definitely a viable option. My biggest complaint would be the anemic code-folding, but as a program that you probably don't have to pay to get, it's very usable. Anyway, hope that helps, if you're interested in those apps just Google them. Hi, I have found the following errors with SEPY so far, and wanted to compare notes. I'm using an Intel Mac: This alert comes up from time to time but doesn't seem to have any effect: Assertion [useCount == 0] failed at /Users/kevino/oss/wx26/wxWidgets/ contrib/src/stc/scintilla/src/Editor.cxx 216 Most of the time when I load up I have to go to the preferences icon, and run the auto-completion routine in order for any menus to work or for the mac command button to work. Sometimes the mac command button stops working. Occassionally, apparently just after a file system access, SEPY closes inexplicably. This seems to happen most often when the mac command button has ceased working. Is this simply because I'm running an Intel mac? I'm new to macs and was mortified that SEPY doesn't run on it as it does on Windows! It was genuinely a strong motivating factor in migrating to mac. TIA. Alec. Alec McEachran al...@pt... |

The most recent version for Mac appears to be 1.5.2RC22, which can be found following this link: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php? group_id=90749&package_id=114139 This is still buggy - sometimes the shortcut keys stop working for the hell of it, it crashes a lot when you open .as files, opening Help/Flash Help crashes it, it slows down inexplicably, etc (Intel Mac). However, it is just about usable when you consider the alternative is the Flash editor's silent errors. Hello, I just downloaded the SEPY version 1.0.6.78 and I am using MacOS Tiger 10.4.6. I noticed in the online mailing list that there is a 1.0.7.4 version. Where can I find this?? Thanks, Allesandro. Dragging documents straight into the window works. Don't know why i didn't think of that, I suppose because I don't normally work like that. It'll do for now, and hopefully an update will fix that. > You should be sure there's no others shortcut which override the > Control-Command-H. Is anyone else having trouble opening files in 1.5? I know it's an early release, but I can only open files through File > Open... or if Sepy is not currently running and I double-click an.as file that is set to open in Sepy= . Files do not open if I double-click them, but Sepy is already open and running, or if I drag the file onto the dock icon. Right-clicking on the icon in the Folder and going to Open With > does not revel Sepy as an option Just wondering if it's a release-wide thing, or if it's just my own strange setup. I've got Sepy 1.5.1.2 RC3 and Mac OS X 10.4.3. At least I can open files, but it's annoying because I pretty much never use the Open... dialog and prefer to open my files from the Finder. Also, kinda unrelated, but is there a way to set Command-H to hide Sepy, an= d map that command away from show/hide the current line highlight? I don't find myself ever wanting to hide the highlight, but it's always bugged me when applications take over the commonly-accepted keyboard shortcuts for a given OS...kinda how Photoshop defaults to Control-Command-H for hide the app, because Command-H is to hide the selection, but at least they give you the option to swap those commands. In these days a new wxpython subversion has been released. I've just tested a little and it seems they've fixed the bug on selecting text on OSX 10.4. For this reason i've packaged a new mac version (in this version also the sqlite module should be already included within the installer): http://www.sephiroth.it/_temp/SEPY_1.0.7.4.dmg -- Alessandro Crugnola Flash | PHP | Python Developer http://www.blumerstudio.com http://www.sephiroth.it +39 3939402645 +39 0236522445 -- |

I have managed to recreate the bug. It happened when amending a file and not saving it. Tabbing to another file in SEPY. Then using another application for a period of time (not an AS editor and not opening the file in any other application) returning to SEPY then tab switching to the amended file. It is a local file. -Andrew On 10 Sep 2005, at 04:10, sep...@li... wrote: > > --__--__-- > > Message: 4 > From: "Alessandro Crugnola *sephiroth*" > <sep...@us...> > To: <sep...@li...> > Subject: R: [SE|PY-macdev] The file has been modified > Date: Fri, 9 Sep 2005 14:50:30 +0200 > Reply-To: sep...@li... > > Wasn't it modified from an external app? > Is that a network file? > > Alessandro Crugnola - sephiroth > --------------------------------------------- > Flash & PHP developer > ale...@se... > mobile: +39 3398901139 > --__--__-- > > Message: 3 > To: sep...@li... > From: Andrew Eatherington <an...@ea...> > Date: Fri, 9 Sep 2005 06:38:19 +0100 > Subject: [SE|PY-macdev] The file has been modified > Reply-To: sep...@li... > > switching between tabs, with a document unsaved, can produce the > alert: > "... the file has been modified by an external application, would you > like to reload it" > > regards > Andrew > > |
