Ok, i removed the two appearances by cutting '|wx.NB_MULTILINE' and let the rest of the line as it was. This actually has no visual effect in my opinion, it looks like before. Recursion: When the SEPY window opens it is fully emptied, then i have to wait about 20 seconds (sandclock) and just with the content that gets visible in the window the recursion exception is written in the shell. valley ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alessandro Crugnola *sephiroth*" <wis...@se...> To: <sep...@li...> Sent: Saturday, July 31, 2004 2:21 PM Subject: RE: [SE|PY-macdev] New error at SEPY startup on OS X > At least it shows something.. :) > I see that the notbook tabs cause problems of visualization. At least it shows something.. :) I see that the notbook tabs cause problems of visualization. Hi Richard, it seems that at the moment using unicode with wxPython isn't possible. i've just tried to build the newest wxWidget/wxPython from the source and with unicode enabled. wxWidget built and installed correctly, but when i try to build wxPython then i get 'UNICODE mode not currently supported on this WXPORT: mac' So it seems that we have to wait for this feature for the os x mode. >> Alessandro: Is it possible to use another CodePage than STC_CP_UTF8 or is there another possibility to get over this current error ? Thanks a lot valley |

That got rid of the error message, but I'm still not able to create a =20= new document or open an existing one. The error message now is: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/local/src/SciTE/SEPY.py", line 2299, in OnNewDocument view =3D Editor(editor_parent, id, doc_name, self, text, stat, =20 newlines, classpaths =3D classpaths) File "/usr/local/src/SciTE/Editor.py", line 276, in __init__ self.SetCodePage(stc.STC_CP_UTF8) File =20 "//Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.3/lib/python2.3/site-=20= packages/wx/stc.py", line 1069, in SetCodePage return _stc.StyledTextCtrl_SetCodePage(*args, **kwargs) wx._core.PyAssertionError: C++ assertion "codePage !=3D wxSTC_CP_UTF8" =20= failed in /usr/local/src/wxWidgets/contrib/src/stc/stc.cpp(423): =20 wxSTC_CP_UTF8 may not be used when wxUSE_UNICODE is off. And this looks like it's more to do with how I compiled wxWidgets. Is =20= there a way to run SEPY without it being dependant on unicode =20 functionality, or do I need to recompile wxWidgets and wxPython with =20 unicode enabled? If I remember correctly, there was an issue in the =20 wxWidgets code that prevented unicode compilation on FreeBSD and OSX =20 machines the last time I tried (about a month ago). This has already reported.. It's strange the fact error appears only in the last image.. I will try = to recompile again, even if i think it will be better if i will definitively use png bitmap for everything, in the filesystem. Anyway, try comment that line and add after this: imagelist_1.Add(wx.EmptyBitmap(16,16)) # Characters Alessandro Crugnola - sephiroth --------------------------------------------- Macromedia Flash Team Volunteer http://www.macromedia.com/go/team Flash && PHP developer ale...@se... *relax with SEPY http://www.sf.net/projects/sepy --------------------------------------------- =20 ::-----Original Message----- ::From: sep...@li...=20 ::[mailto:sep...@li...] On Behalf Of valley ::Sent: venerd=EC 30 luglio 2004 19.30 ::To: sep...@li... ::Subject: [SE|PY-macdev] New error at SEPY startup on OS X :: ::Hi there, :: ::i got a new error message when using Python2.3.4 and the=20 ::newest wxPython version ::(2.5.2.3p.20040723) on OS X Panther (10.3.4) when starting SEPY: :: ::[Debug] 20:14:29: Unrecognized accel key 'CAPSLOCK', accel=20 ::string ignored. ::[Debug] 20:14:29: Unrecognized accel key 'CAPSLOCK', accel=20 ::string ignored. ::Traceback (most recent call last): :: File "/Users/valley/Desktop/SEPY/SciTE/SEPY.py", line 139, in Notify :: frame =3D main_window(parent=3DNone, id=3Dwx.NewId(),=20 ::title=3DAbout_title, dialog =3D self.dialog) :: File "/Users/valley/Desktop/SEPY/SciTE/SEPY.py", line 258,=20 ::in __init__ :: self.__set_properties() :: File "/Users/valley/Desktop/SEPY/SciTE/SEPY.py", line 946,=20 ::in __set_properties :: imagelist_1.Add(images.getp_charBitmap()) # Characters :: File "//Library/Python/2.3/wx/_gdi.py", line 4359, in Add :: return _gdi_.ImageList_Add(*args, **kwargs) ::wx._core.PyAssertionError: C++ assertion "bitmap.GetWidth()=20 ::=3D=3D m_width && ::bitmap.GetHeight() =3D=3D m_height" failed in ::/tmp/BUILD/wxPythonSrc-2.5.2.3p.20040723/src/generic/imaglist.cpp(74): ::invalid bitmap size in wxImageList: this might work on this=20 ::platform but definitely won't under Windows. :: ::i'm not sure but didn't someone else also once discovered a=20 ::bitmap error on os x ? ::hope this helps a little bit further ;-) :: ::valley :: :: :: ::------------------------------------------------------- ::This SF.Net email is sponsored by OSTG. Greetings - Yes, that's where I am with it right now. However, swapping out the "images.getp_charBitmap()" call in line 946 with another one (mine just duplicates the "images.getc_packageBitmap()" call from the previous line) gets past the error. It seems the bitmap returned by getp_chatBitmap() isn't the correct size that the imagelist_1 object is expecting. Weird though that this doesn't happen on windows machines. After doing this however, the new error message I get is as follows: File "//Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.3/lib/python2.3/site- packages/wx/_core.py", line 10528, in <lambda> lambda event: event.callable(*event.args, **event.kw) ) File "/usr/local/src/SciTE/SEPY.py", line 403, in __checkForNewDocument self.OnNewDocument(0) File "/usr/local/src/SciTE/SEPY.py", line 2299, in OnNewDocument view = Editor(editor_parent, id, doc_name, self, text, stat, newlines, classpaths = classpaths) File "/usr/local/src/SciTE/Editor.py", line 252, in __init__ self.RegisterImage(4, getEmptyBitmap()) File "//Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.3/lib/python2.3/site- packages/wx/stc.py", line 1400, in RegisterImage return _stc.StyledTextCtrl_RegisterImage(*args, **kwargs) wx._core.PyAssertionError: C++ assertion "bitmap.GetWidth() == m_width && bitmap.GetHeight() == m_height" failed in /usr/local/src/wxWidgets/src/generic/imaglist.cpp(74): invalid bitmap size in wxImageList: this might work on this platform but definitely won't under Windows. To get around this just to see what happens, I performed a similar workaround and replaced line 252 with: self.RegisterImage(4, getPrototype3Bitmap()) Doing this results in the following error: File "//Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.3/lib/python2.3/site- packages/wx/_core.py", line 10528, in <lambda> lambda event: event.callable(*event.args, **event.kw) ) File "/usr/local/src/SciTE/SEPY.py", line 403, in __checkForNewDocument self.OnNewDocument(0) File "/usr/local/src/SciTE/SEPY.py", line 2299, in OnNewDocument view = Editor(editor_parent, id, doc_name, self, text, stat, newlines, classpaths = classpaths) File "/usr/local/src/SciTE/Editor.py", line 254, in __init__ self.SetupScrollBars() File "/usr/local/src/SciTE/Editor.py", line 1638, in SetupScrollBars v_bar = self.dyn_sash.GetVScrollBar(self) AttributeError: 'Notebook' object has no attribute 'GetVScrollBar' And that's pretty much where I am now... I don't think there is somewhere a working sepy version in mac. once it seems mike chambers was able to arrive at a good point, but many things changes... what i would like to do with this list is also come to write a common = step y step compilation instructions and tips&trick for mac users.. we can use my phpwiki pages so everyone can brings his experience... http://www.sephiroth.it/phpwiki/index.php/SEPY On the other hand. I suggest mac users to use always the cvs version under sf.net site. SEPY.py should have always the line: sys.excepthook =3D exc_hook commented in this way: # sys.excepthook =3D exc_hook and second thing i suggest to rename main.pyw into main.py so python = will be used instead of pythonw.
