I have a working system and have never used scstadmin, I just edit the conf files.. I do have both… systems using a stable scst.conf and quite dynamic ones, which can't run with a stable scst.conf, since those have dynamic configurations. This is the only purpose for using scstadmin, anyway - performing dynamic changes to scst while it's running with the ease of mind, that you are a bit protected from accidentially blowing up your targets, which would happen immediately and without asking when using sysfs. > > > > Grant Albitz | Vice President of Information Technology > MCITP: Enterprise Administrator | MCITP: Server Administrator > Schultz Technology Solutions, LLC | 3117 West Ridge Pike > Pottstown, PA 19464 | Office 610-495-6204 | Fax 610-495-6205 > gr...@sc...| www.schultztechnology.com > > > > > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Sietse van Zanen [mailto:si...@wi...] > Sent: Thursday, October 31, 2013 11:25 AM > To: Bart Van Assche; scs...@li... > Subject: Re: [Scst-devel] Alternative for scstadmin? > > Well any language that can be directly compiled into an ELF binary would be acceptable. I will definitely consider rewriting scstadmin, in C++ as that's the only language besides pascal and java that I know, but I haven't been programming since college and that's almost 15 years ago. Besides, for at least the next half year I will not have time to do this. > > The question is also, is it necessary to rewrite scstadmin in c++? Doesn't the sysfs provide most if not all of the functions to add/remove devices, luns etc? Languages like Python and C++ have such a feature. Does this mean that you are considering to write an equivalent of scstadmin in another language than Perl ? > > Bart. > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Android is increasing in popularity, but the open development platform that developers love is also attractive to malware creators.
