It would help if you could post the backported patch on this list such
that it can be reviewed.

Note: as far as I know the io_context patch significantly improves
performance when using the CFQ scheduler, and only affects
performance. You can still use the deadline scheduler instead of the
CFQ scheduler if the io_context patch has not been applied.
