I'll admit to not being that familiar with Carbon issues. :) But, i 
think you need at least a stub library linked to use any function 
defined in a shared library?

TARGET_API_MAC_CARBON  and PP_Target_Carbon are clearly zero in our sources.

Ill get rid of carbon on my system and see what happens.
