FYI the new scanner I committed a few days ago has several bugs (not
crashing bugs, it's just counting wrong). I've fixed most of them locally,
will commit as soon as I'm convinced it's bug-free.

Another thought crossed my mind: Do we want to provide some more interesting
statistics? If I count number of occurrences, sum of lengths and sum of
squares of lengths for periodic events, we could display means and standard
deviations. I'm not sure if this would be useful though.
