Really what I was showing there is that by having a b&w logo, you can use it in ways that don't impact any interface elements you want to use.
You wouldn't use the black and white version unless you were sending a fax, I can pull a gradient in that black area, or add a texture to the white without much stress.
The letters are all lowercase, but I boosted the scale on the s and t because of the phenoms associated with the word and those letters. That's easily changeable. I'm very excited to have a shot at someone using my artwork. I do java programming also, but my main focus is artwork.
In the interface, there are 5 buttons, but there could easily be twelve or however many major categories the user wants to create. I didn't want to assume too much about your document structure. I'll put some more time in on the interface tomorrow. Basically I was thinking it would run in an mdi style interface, and it would have panels that would be nicely shaped that would pop out from the main 'browser' panel.
I won't get much further into it than that until I get you some more art to look at and we can decide whether or not we're wasting each others time.
Take it easy, I'll be in touch soon..

hi everybody,
yes,me too,I think that magnethead's B&W logo
sounds fine.Compliments!
Can I ask you wich program do you use?
Also me,I'm going to elaborate an alternative idea, and in a couple of days,I'll propose it.
But really,I think this is fine...
Thank you,vronsky.

Generally I use Illustrator for artwork generation. If there were an opensource app that compared, then I'd use that, (win).
I export from illustrator as jpg / png / bmp depending on the color space in question and bring that into gimp for any further work.
For a long time I used photoshop, but when I got rid of my mac, the license wouldn't transfer... so... freeware alternatives. Illustrator 9 gives you everything photoshop has, just takes a little longer to do.
And gimp is always a good bet.
I'm planning on working out some variations, but time has been sucked up by a different project of my own for the last few days. Once I get that to a stopping point, I'll come back to saute and finish up.
Thanks for the compliments,
mh

Looks better; however, I think that it's still a little bland. Somewhere in between these and the first one by vronsky would be ideal.
The more I look at ideas, the more I think that the logo (and the look of the program and web site) should be expressive, avoiding blandness while staying away from gaudiness. (That makes things perfectly clear, doesn't it? ;} )
We'll see how things pan out, as more ideas come. Well done to everyone so far, and thanks for your work.

I seem to have misplaced the color versions of the files. Give me some suggestions as to the colors you'd like to see, and I'll put those up. These will work for placeholders.

I still really like the general idea of this logo (the pan) but not this particular one. I think making color as part of the logo is also a good idea since most likely, it will almost always be against a very light background.

I'll have to rescan the original elements at a higher res and reassemble it and retouch it and make it all nice and high quality. hopefully I'll be able to find some time to do that over the weekend. Can't sleep.. must finish projects. Can't sleep... must finish projects....

Heyas,
Thought I'd throw something together this morning. Let me know what you think.

or

the pdf is so you can see the line art for scaleability.

I just put together a little interface thought that might work for the 'userbase'.

waiting to hear something back.

That I really like. I like the orange a lot, but I'd be interested to see it in other colors and intensities as well.
groovy stuff
Nice. I'm not too fond of the font, though. I was thinking of some color, but I think the B&W is working on me. Can you do up some other variations.
saut is also all lower case.

Anyway...
B.R.
Vronsky
I like the style of the first one best, but I think with some element that can relate it to cooking, etc.
Okay, so there's a new color version on the site,

The image is a png, which sometimes displays the alpha, but isn't right now, sorry.

sort of a rough, first version.... I'm still working on it.. what do you think sirs?
OOOO...I think I like it. The fire and the roughness/thick lines work really well. I think this one has much more energy than your next one.
I'll have to rescan the original elements at a higher res and reassemble it and retouch it and make it all nice and high quality. hopefully I'll be able to find some time to do that over the weekend. Can't sleep.. must finish projects. Can't sleep... must finish projects....

Ok. sorry for the delay. Not easy juggling as many projects as I have. (not that I'm complaining)
