Can I have a sample tiff-file and its screenshots in versions 17 and 18?
(attach as zip or sent via e-mail please)

The test file is a simple screenshot saved as TIFF with Microsoft Paint.
The screenshot v2.0.0.17.jpg was taken with an installed SageThumbs 2.0.0.17.
The screenshot v2.0.0.18.jpg was taken after installing version 2.0.0.18 over the previous version, rebooting (the installer asked for it) and clearing the thumbnail cache in the SageThumbs options panel.

SageThumbs creates thumbnail with 256x256 maximum size and Windows Explorer shows this also 256x256 in right preview panel as-is... But how you managed to enlarge this preview?!

You can size the right preview panel as you want. This is very practical on widescreen monitors for image preview directly in Windows Explorer, but the required resolutions are much higher than 256x256. This was perfectly possible in version 2.0.0.17.

I found out that Windows Explorer is using the registered IThumbnailProvider associated with a given filetype for preview image retrieval, which SageThumbs implements.
I managed to instantiate a SageThumbs COM object and call the GetThumbnail method of the IThumbnailProvider Interface directly. With version 2.0.0.17 I get whatever size I specify for the [in] UINT cx parameter. With version 2.0.0.18 I always get resolutions around 256x256 independently of the parameter. Are there any plans to change this behaviour again?

The attachment shows my SageThumbs 2.0.0.19 (same as for 2.0.0.18) settings, the original pic on the left, and the Windows Preview pane on the right, immediately after turning on "Prefer Image embedded thumbnails". When that setting is turned off again, the Windows Preview Pane then works again as normal. Clearing the icon cache didn't help.

Fixed. Re-download 2.0.0.19, re-install it (by removing old version) and test again please.

      Hello Raspopov,

Finally I have time to thank you for the fix. Also a complicating factor in testing when I was using your extension was that I found out that Gimp only displays the top graphics layer of the image in the xcf file in its preview files (bug that they don’t have time to fix), at the time I thought that was a bug with your utility.

      regards,
      Mark
