I love the work you're doing. However, I recently have problems with vers.0.9 onwards untl the latest ver.0.9.2-2. There is an error message saying "Unrecoverable Playback error. Unsupported Channel Layout" when played DSD native files (both 64, 128) The foobar version is 1.3.9 (latest updated 11/2). When revert back to ver.0.8.4, the playback is fine. Please let me know when you resolve this problem ASAP.

Thanks, Tak

You can't expect anyone to solve this unless you post more information about your setup.

I added trace option in 0.9.3. If plugin doesn't work for some reason please consider to attach traces to description of the issue.

Still not be able to pb native DSD file...beyond v.0.9. The set up is foobar v.1.3.9 with DAC Korg DS-DAC10. PCM Hi-res files work fine.

Using foobar2000 with my equipment, TEAC UD-501, I have exactly the same error message and blocking issue with foo_input_sacd vers.0.9 onwards, at least up to vers. 0.9.6.
I did not test all versions, only 0.9.0 and 0.9.6 !
Reverting back to ver.0.8.4, everything works fine for me too ... except a small "click" (gap?) during playback at transition point between two .dsf files. But that's another issue with foo_input_sacd, not happening with the TEAC software player, giving a perfectly gapless sound with the same set of multiple files.

Addendum to my previous message right above.
I continued testing other changes in my foobar config, and found probably a solution, working at least for me :
foo_out_asio 2.1.2 module was present in my config since long time. I removed it, and now the "Unrecoverable..." error no longer happens with foo_input_sacd version 0.9.0 and higher, even when I reinstall foo_out_asio (probably useless).

I also switched back to 0.8.4 to get native DSD asio on my audio-gd
With asio Proxy v8.3 works perfectly to stream the DSD flux over USB
Had to reinstall after Redstone update to make it work clean
When using newest builds of the plugin (newer than 0.8.4) I lost DSD stream to decode over USB/ASIO for my Dac NFB-1 audio-gd

    Waiting for a fix

Hi Maxim, which version is this fix going to be released in -- ASIOProxyInstall-0.9.3.zip? Thanks!

"Unrecoverable Playback error. Unsupported Channel Layout" usually means that channels are not properly assigned. What is channel set of your source?

I don't want to hijack this bug report, but I assume I have the same problem (cannot play DSD files -- however DSD upconversion for e.g. mp3 -> DSD playback work prefectly on my iDSD micro).

I am attaching my proxy / conversion settings. My custom channel assignments are empty.

There is no error, the .dsd appears to be playing, but no sound is output, and the DAC is set to a wrong sample rate, and no sound is being reproduced.

I also believe this may be the same issue (or related) to: https://sourceforge.net/p/sacddecoder/support-requests/29/

    Thank you.

Okay, besides playing native .dsd files, there is also problem playing .mp3 in 96kHz/24-bit with the above config. The message is: "Unrecoverable playback error: Sample rate of 96000 Hz not supported by this device."

Attaching the relevant logs for both cases:

    1. DSD64 refuses to play as DSD64 - appears to play but no sound is output - I have stopped it after 1sec to keep the log short.
    2. FLAC 96kHz / 24bit refuses to play as DSD512, displays "Unrecoverable playback error: Sample rate of 96000 Hz not supported by this device."

    1. Could you setup ASIO buffer size to power of 2 (4096, 8192, ...)?
    2. That's ok:) 96k could play on some DACs, but in DoP mode.

    Hi Maxim:)

    1. already had that --- please check the driver utility screenshot attached.
    2. do you mean that 96k/24bit cannot be converted to DSD512 at this time? The iDSD micro is actually capable of much higher frequencies and bit-rates than that, in the PCM mode.

What can be said from "cannot play DSD64 as DSD64 on iFi micro.trc" trace file is that you are trying tp play PCM 44100 source upconverted to native DSD512. And ASIO buffer size is set (instead of 8192 samples as on picture) to strange value 67740 (DSD bytes). Are you sure that you've set foo_input_sacd plugin to DSD mode? And what version of foo_input_sacd?

foo_input_sacd of version 0.9.11, and DSD mode for SACD is set, yes. I'm attaching relevant screenshot. Thanks.

  • Maxim V.Anisiutkin

Thanks. Please, attach Preferences->Playback->Output screenshot too.

Hi, here it is (+ asio page).

  • Maxim V.Anisiutkin

Output is set to "ASIO : foo_dsd_asio", and this is why you have PCM 44100 silence. Should be "DSD : ASIO : foo_dsd_asio" instead.

Maxim, perfect!!! DSD is now playing!!! :) Thank you!

The other problem stays (I don't know if it's a problem or a feature) -- cannot convert 96kHz/24-bit FLAC into DSD512.

  • Maxim V.Anisiutkin

You can try your luck by setting Input: 96000, Output: DSD64-DSD256, DSD Mode: DoP. And it's a feature:)

Yes the 96k plays with that. Thanks for your hard work Maxim.

    Hello all,
Last versions work perfectly fine for my audio-gd nfb 1 ( v.0.9.11 and Asio Proxy v.0.9.2 )

    • upsample off all 44,1 and multiples on DSD64 and DSD128, ASIO Native, no DoP
    • reading of DSD isos with SDM type D in DSD output mode
      Regards,

Thanks for your hard work Maxim !!! :-)))
