Since rtf2latex2e was programmed, Microsoft has issued new versions of MSWord, which write new versions of rtf, and rtf2latex2e is unable to convert the new rtf dialects.
In many cases it helps opening the document in Wordpad and saving it as rtf from Wordpad.
If anyone would like to update rtf2latex2e, she/he is welcome -- currently there is no active developer in the rtf2latex2e project.
OK... but a segfault? That's a bit worse than "unable to convert" :-)
I don't have time to look into this myself unfortunately.
