It's difficult to know what's going on under the covers, and this does vary with scenario. I'll add the basics below, some of which may be unnecessary.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open new session
- Set track 1 to instrument #10 and archive the track
- Set track 2 to instrument #10
- Set track 3 to instrument #1
- Set track 4 to instrument #2
- Set track 5 to instrument #3
- Add a new track 6 which automatically is set to instrument #4 and is selected
- Verify that the Track Parameters also shows #4
- Now undo
- For a freshly installed RG, track 1 is automatically selected for some reason, as opposed to track 5 which was last selected. Yet Track Parameters still says instrument #4
- Mysteriously, for my default session, it's track 2 which is selected instead, but Track Parameters still says #4
- Clicking on track 2 does cause Track Parameters to show its correct instrument #10
So, obviously a Track Parameters refresh issue. But why does it select track 1, or as in at least one session track 2, on undo and not the track which was selected beforehand?
Yes there was some track selection logic missing on undo.
