We should have some additional people joining us soon, including a
German developer who has been interested in standardizing PIM schemas
for some time (he is on vacation till October 25th). I am still trying
to interest more.
Perhaps we could take a first stab at outlining the work to be done?
Here would be my list:
1. Schema
--- works with openLDAP2.x normal schemae
--- compatibility with Mozilla? Evolution? Kaddressbook? phpGroupware?
I suspect that the real trick here is to have a base schema and then to
make it easy to use other schemae -- sort of different personalities?
2. Mass emailing. Rolodap has the ability to send emails to a list
selected from the LDAP directory. However a true group emailer normally
knows how to handle bounces, address changes, etc. Perhaps we should be
looking at how to make Rolodap work with something like Mailman or Limez?
3. Deletions. It is very difficult to make a deletion from Rolodap,
because an address may be used by multiple people. Perhaps we need a
mechanism where everybody who uses an address (or has it in their book)
gets notified and has the opportunity to sign off on a deletion.
4. General code cleanup
5. Word Processors . At a minimum we should work out how to use
Rolodap as an address source for OpenOffice. there is a primtive csv
output for word processors, but OO has the ability to use an LDAP directory.
6. ???
What are other's thoughts?
