Can RealTerm automatically create a new c:/temp/capture.txt document when "Capture" is selected?

I am using RT to capture oscillator time interval data in ASCII. I set up the devices, see the data on the screen and then select "capture". The capture is sent to a text file in the c:/temp folder. Is there some way to have RT automatically create a new "capture.txt" document when the capture button is selected? (At present, I need to rename the existing capture text document to save it and then manually create a new document called "capture.txt" in the Temp folder. Thanks. jsrobbins

As capture is usually initated with "Start:Overwrite" , and it will do just that.

Are you really asking: "Can realterm rename capture.txt before overwriting it"?

What version are you using? Recent versions have several different options for autonaming files to address this.

It can also run a post=process batch file, which you could use to do renaming/copying/uploading etc.

Simon, thank you for your response. I guess what I am asking is whether RT can automatically create a new capture.txt file and assign it a unique number with a single button push. And then, after ending the data run, create a new capture.txt data file with an incremented unique number. My job is to make various oscillator measurements and save them for later use an analysis. Overwriting or appending with new data defeats saving the old data. At present, at the end of a run, I manually open c:/temp/ folder, rename the capture.txt file with a unique number and then create a new (blank) "capture.txt" document. Hope that makes sense. Jim R.

I have downloaded 3.0.1.43. It does the capture.txt file creation in a way which will solve my problem. Sorry for the airtime without checking for updates.
