Hi Rob,

Yes, there was a way to authenticate via API but it was implemented poorly.
I've fixed things and updated the docs -

Try the new authentication mechanisms out. Any comments or feedback would
be welcome.

This update is in the SVN tree. I will be making a new 2.1B release this
week.
