Hey Eric!  I'm glad to hear someone's coming back to Raceintospace after all this time.  I was afraid the game was permanently on hold!  Yes yes please, don't let the project die now.  It's so close to being better than the original.  Say, one of the other programmers has a beta executable for .4.7 which fixes three bugs, including the 900MB bug you mentioned, so you may be able to get a step ahead of where you thought you would.
