QxlWin version 1.0.7 now available (windows only)

Version 1.0.7

The new version:

  • Allows the source code to be easily downloaded from the Help->About menu.
  • Allows any file type to be saved to the host Operating System.

When a file is double-clicked on, on the RIGHT side of the Files tab, you are prompted to save or cancel. If the file is a normal QL file, you can save the file to disk by clicking Save. If you click Cancel, the file will try to be opened in the File Browser tab. It may not open if there are binary characters in the file, such is the case with Quill and Zip files.... read more

New Release - Version 1.0.6 Windows Only

This could be the last one for a while! I've uploaded the installer for 1.0.6 and the exe file itself.

Changes today are:

  • When the last file opened is re-opened at startup, the tree structures on the Files tab, correctly show the folder and filename that has been opened.

Linux files will be uploaded soon to suit.

New Release - Version 1.0.5 Windows Only

I've uploaded version 1.0.5 for Windows this morning. There's now two files:

  • QxlWin-Installer.exe - use this if you've never downloaded before as it installs a lot of required support files, dlls etc.
  • QxlWin.exe - download this file and copy it over the existing 9nstalled version. You already have the support files etc and don't need a big installer just for the sake of a reasonably small exe file.... read more

New Release - Version 1.05

Linux 64 bit only.

  • The application now displays the version number of the caption bar. This should prevent confusion.
  • The previously opened qxl_win file is reopened at startup. If you wish to avoid this, close the file before closing the application.
  • If a text file was open in the browser, it will be reopened at next startup, and the browser tab displayed.

At the moment, the file tree tab does not display the currently opened file. Yet!

Final Release (For today?)

Version 1.04.

Bug fix:

It seems that the root of the QXL_win drive was never shown in the files tab. This meant that if you opened a folder (in either window) you could never get back to the root of the drive. This has been fixed.

Enhancement:

The file viewer tab now has a "save" button which allows you to save the currently opened file.

New Release

And another new release. Version 1.02.

More minor request enhancements:

  • The last used open file will be defaulted into the open file dialogue. This will "stick" between sessions. However, if you close a file, the last used one will be blank on the next startup, but the last path used will still stick.
  • The window size and position will also stick between sessions.
  • The font used on the file viewer tab will be saved and re-used on the next session.
  • The number representation sticks between sessions too. If you closed with hex enabled, you'll get hex on the next startuup and/or open of a file.

New Release

QxlWin has had another new release, Version 1.0.1, thanks to Dilwyn Jones.

Foibles, as opposed to bugs, fixed this time are:

  • Double-clicking a folder in the right list of the Files tab now opens that folder. It no longer displays a message that you "cannot open this file type".
  • The fonts drop down only lists monospaced fonts rather than everything.

New Release

QxlWin has a new release. Version 1.00. Bugs fixed in this release are:

  • We have a proper Windows installer now!
  • If a filename had a length of exactly 36 characters, there was no terminating NULL to tell the system where the file name ended.
  • In some (old?) Win files, the file name length could be more than the maximum 36 permitted. I've seen lengths over 64 KB in some test files, these caused the application to barf and abort.
