Hi,
nice to have, applications/*.desktop, %u,%f,%c,$() erraneous
when amending my applications/.desktop, to make them fit to Q4OS (1. Q4OS version affected: Host: q4os-desktop Kernel: 5.10.0-10-686-pae i686 bits: 32 Desktop: Trinity R14.0.11 Distro: Q4OS 4.7.1-n1 )
I realised that all %u %f %c $(subshell) did not work. Here my preferred example out of a applications/.desktop file (simplified):*
Exec=/bin/dash -ac ‘UU=”%u”; aaa $( bbb ) ccc $UU’
where aaa bbb ccc are existing programs in /usr/bin. Most of those symbols %u,$() did not work, due to something You did to the desktop.org policy. Your Q4OS seemes to do an unsolicited interpretation of any Exec=…
*
1. First, all those %u %f %c never ever worked in Q4OS, and I tried with multiple combinations of %%u, $%u etc, none achieved anything. At this point I would like to mention: that Exec=…’ worked very well on other desktop.org WM like in Emmabuntus, MxLinux, Zorin.
*
2. Second, that $( bbb subshell ) striked too, but when testing $$( with 2 dollar ) that middle part worked again. At this point I would like to mention: that Exec=…$( one dollar )...’ worked very well on other desktop.org WM like in Emmabuntus, MxLinux, Zorin.

Do You have a way to make all that work like in Emmabuntus, MxLinux, Zorin?
Best Regards

This issue is not Q4OS specific. The same bearing you get on vanilla Debian with Trinity desktop installation. You are welcome to report that at Trinity developers https://trinitydesktop.org/ upstream.
This report will be closed as not Q4OS bug.
