You can easily configure DPMS display blanking options:
Right click on desktop -> Configure desktop -> Display -> Power Control tab -> Enable display power management -> set all DPMS options to 0 or some desired values.
or install and setup complete power management application 'tdepowersave-trinity':
$ sudo apt-get install tdepowersave-trinity

After 15 minutes the powersave turns on even if you turn that off. Very irritating when watching a movie :)
