Hello All, I just finished setting up Pyzor, and I'm having trouble getting it to function correctly. When I run a pyzor ping I get the following: sending: 'User: anonymous\nTime: 1210112585\nSig: 158c33015f6767995f0677f031e9f245686c0a00\n\nOp: ping\nThread: 36716\nPV: 2.0\n\n' Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/pyzor", line 4, in ? pyzor.client.run() File "/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/pyzor/client.py", line 991, in run ExecCall().run() File "/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/pyzor/client.py", line 195, in run if not apply(dispatch, (self, args)): File "/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/pyzor/client.py", line 229, in ping runner.run(server, (server,)) File "/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/pyzor/client.py", line 782, in run response = apply(self.routine, varargs, kwargs) File "/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/pyzor/client.py", line 39, in ping self.send(msg, address) File "/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/pyzor/client.py", line 73, in send self.socket.sendto(mac_msg_str, 0, address) socket.error: (1, 'Operation not permitted') If I disable my firewall the ping works fine, so there must be port that needs to be opened. I tried opening port 24441 for both incoming/outgoing but this does clear the problem. The question is, what port does Pyzor what to communication on? Thanks for any help! -- Carl |

I've been seeing a lot of server timeouts for 82.94.255.106 in the past few days (possibly longer). I imagine it that the operators of that server might be implementing some sort of rate limiting (I'm a medium sized site with about 2000 users). Anyone else seeing these sorts of timeouts?: pyzor ping: 82.94.255.106:24441 TimeoutError: I run local pyzor daemons also, but since they can't share data with other servers I've been using 82.94.255.106 as well. Any updates on data/checksum sharing for pyzor servers? So it seems since I last wrote I am getting listed more often: $ pyzor check < mail/test 82.94.255.100:24441 (200, 'OK') 46 0 the digest output: $ pyzor digest < mail/test2 ebbaecca456967a12ed9833017a9af187ee144bc I discovered this tonight just trying to send an email from a new user to another in our little network to test her email. My question is, if my server is not an open relay and is not a source of spam, are the hash/keys based on email address, actual ip address or content? Hi Benny, Pyzor discover should be pointing towards 82.94.255.100. and that server(s) certainly is not overloaded (now) as we rewrote the backend form the original python code to C++ and now can do an avg 10.000 requests per server. I encourage everyone to report as much as possible so to keep the increase the spam detection rate, we can take the load (now:-) .. Email me off-list if you have any questions MC. But to also answer your question, Key's are generated & subject to the content of your email. If your email was listed in the database then an email with the same content was reported to us as spam by a number users. If it was a "Hy hon, I am running late at the office" email I would certainly like to see the check results you get back. Milt.
