The following forum message was posted by fabioz at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4579718: Are you using the PyDev package explorer or the navigator? Maybe you have a filter enabled which is hiding those files? Cheers, Fabio |

The following forum message was posted by pixeldroid at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4579718: Thanks, but that is not working. Even when I restart eclipse, not all of the '.py' files in my PROJECT_LOC directory show up in the navigator. |

The following forum message was posted by fabioz at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4581256: Actually, I'm able to run tests here properly... Can you grab the latest nightly, make sure you have Django properly configured (if you right click the project > properties, there's a page for that now -- instead of just relying on adding the needed configuration to the string substitution variables) and see if it works -- and if it doesn't, please open a bug report and post the errors you're having (with the steps needed to setup your environment so that I can reproduce it here). Cheers, Fabio |

The following forum message was posted by fabioz at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4581002: Actually, yes, that's expected... (the output is not asynchronous). There's currently no workaround for that (except maybe writing to a file and reading that file, but not really within the console). Cheers, Fabio |

The following forum message was posted by miniver at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4581256: First, thank you to all of the PyDev developers for all of the hard work and effort you've put into PyDev. I've spent the better part of the last year using PyDev under Windows and Linux, for several projects (big and small), and I'm about to start another project using it. This will be my second major project using Django, and it is going to have a serious focus on unit testing. PyDev has some marvelous support for running unit tests within Eclipse, and reporting the test results using PyUnit. Unfortunately, that support falls apart if you want to run unit tests for Django applications, and I'm not certain why. Admittedly, Django does want to set up its environment (primarily to ensure that test databases have been properly created and initialized) before starting testing, but it still uses unittest (or nose) for testing, so it ought to be possible to produce a test runner that will cope with Django tests. The best (only) way that I've found to run Django unit tests is to create a run configuration that runs the Django test runner. While this works, it results in all of the testing output going to the console, and nothing gets sent to the PyUnit window. What I would like is the ability to run all (or some) of the unit tests in a Django project, and see the results in the PyUnit window. Perhaps then I'd also get to see how well the code coverage tools work. Presumably this would involve writing a Django-specific testrunner, but that shouldn't be that hard, right? |

The following forum message was posted by at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4581002: Hello, I am using Pydev 2.1 with eclipse and I'm using the Python console. I notice that when i issue print commands in a method, that the output doesn't show up until the method ends. For example, if i have a loop in a method that prints messages, i don't see any of the messages until the method exits. Is this expected behavior? Is there a way to make it work like the Python console in Windows or Linux where outputs are displayed as soon as they are issued? Thanks, brian |

The following forum message was posted by pixeldroid at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4578538: Hmm. This doesn't happen when I first start eclipse, but it starts happening shortly after. I'm using eclipse 3.6.2 PyDev 2.1.0.2011052613 The only other plugin is Maya Editor It only happens when I add a newline in the left panel (the right panel scrolls to one line above the location of the newline). It doesn't happen when I add a newline to the right panel (left panel doesn't jump), and the right panel doesn't do it if its scrolled all the way to the top (it doesn't jump down). I realize this may not be a pyDev issue... Thanks. |

The following forum message was posted by ronpanto at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4570984: Hi, does anybody know if such a feature is in plan or scheduled to some date? I have tried working with pydev over RSE (and read about people who tried it also) and there are many problems - interpreter can't run on remote system so many of pydev's functionalities are completely disabled, you can't create a pydev project in a remote location and so on. Thanks, Ron |

This is supported, you just have to make sure that the 'src' folder is added to your PYTHONPATH (i.e.: is configured as a source folder: see: http://pydev.org/manual_101_project_conf2.html as a reference)... if that's not the case, can you send a snapshot of your pydev package explorer for this project (with the contents expanded). Thanks for the response.
1) The layout if the following:
Main Project
|
src
|
mypackage
|
__init__.py is here
more directories...
|
docs, etc.
So __init__.py is two levels deep
Is this layout no longer allowed? If so, anyway to force pydev to operate
as normal?
2) This is on.
3) Tried running this.. still not happening
The outline is created correctly and indenting errors are underlined.
However, attribute errors, undefined variables, etc. are not picked up.
However, if I make an entirely new project from scratch, such errors are
detected; doesn't solve the current issue unfortunately.
4) Error log contains nothing odd except:
ENTRY org.python.pydev.core 1 1 2011-06-11 19:36:57.218
!MESSAGE Expected IO issue (version changed or validation not ok): properly
handled.
!STACK 0

The following forum message was posted by at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4568005: I recently added the aptana plugin for eclipse and am having inconsistent experiences with Pydev. e.g. the autocomplete sometimes finds the builtin "sorted" function, most of the times it doesn't however. Can anyone help me set up pydev's autocomplete to get this to work consistently? Thanks! |

The common reasons for that are: 1. Those files are not considered to be in your pythonpath (i.e.: under a source folder, or not in a folder with __init__ or with a name that cannot be imported by Python -- if you send a snapshot of your pydev package explorer I can help in diagnosing that). 2. The auto-build was turned off (i.e.: under the menu project, the option 'auto build' is not checked). 3. Note that in the latest release PyDev will only analyze files you have opened (there's still an option to analyze files under a folder by right clicking a folder and choosing Pydev > code analysis). If none of these help you, please take a look if you have something in your error log... The following forum message was posted by fabioz at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4566881: Actually, probably the real case is that the Java rt.jar is not added to your Jython interpreter configuration... this should be auto-detected by PyDev, but maybe there was a problem there in that step -- can you see if 'rt.jar' is in the System libs? See: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/30/jythoninterpreterconfig.png for an example on how it should look like... Cheers, Fabio |

The following forum message was posted by gmseed at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4566881: It appears this is a peculiar feature/bug of PyDev and discussed elsewhere: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1702043/how-can-i-make-the-pydev-editor-selec tively-ignore-errors The following import: import java.util.ArrayList as ArrayList raises the error "Unresolved import", flagged in the left hand margin However, if the code is run it actually works - which is very confusing as the IDE is telling you there are errors and yet the code will run. This does not instill me with confidence with respect to future error messages. Adding #@UnresolvedImport at the end of the import statement: import java.util.ArrayList as ArrayList #@UnresolvedImport stops the left-hand-margin error message. Furthermore, I notice that there is no field/method popup listing in the editor when adding defining an object of a Java class. |

The following forum message was posted by gmseed at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4566881: Hi I'm working my way thro the Jython book at: http://www.jython.org/jythonbook/en/1.0/DataTypes.html#lists-dictionaries-sets-a nd-tuples and in Listing 2-27 it states: # Import and use a Java ArrayList >>> import java.util.ArrayList as ArrayList This works in the command-line window but does not work in Eclipse and complains with "Unresolved import". I'm confused by this as I'm using the Jython interpreter and assumed it has access to the Java api, as illustrated by how the command-line works. Thanks Graham |
