The following forum message was posted by fabioz at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/3307648: Strange, this issue seems to be already fixed to me... I remember doing something about it and in my tests with an 800x600 screen it seems to work properly, so, it may be something related to a specific platform/eclipse version, so, can you please provide that information (also, it'd be useful if you can provide a screenshot of how it looks there -- you can do that in a bug report). Cheers, Fabio |

The following forum message was posted by fabioz at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4548534: Can you do one more test: Edit the file C:\Users\hart\.eclipse\org.eclipse.platform_3.6.1_1709980481\plugi ns\org.python.pydev_2.1.0.2011052613\PySrc\pydev_sitecustomize\sitecustomize.py and add a print "sitecustomize" as the first line in that script and then run it from PyDev (as that's the first file executed by Python, I'm trying to discover if it crashes before or after entering in that file). Cheers, Fabio |

The following forum message was posted by mbutow at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4560827: Hello Fabio, Unfortunately, I cannot find anything in the Error Log there is nothing related to these occurrences. The odd thing is, I think I could open the console on another machine with more recent OS (Debian Squeeze/x86_64 instead of Fedora 10/i386), slightly newer Python version (2.6.x) but same Helios and PyDev plugin versions. Except for the fact that I can't open the console on this machine, I have not noticed any other problems with PyDev. For now, I will work around this problem, and hopefully I can update this machine's OS soon. Then I will try again to see if the problem disappears. Regards, Michael |

The following forum message was posted by webhart at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4548534: Fabio, thank you for the suggestions. I did the following steps: 1. Open a shell 2. set path=c:\windows;c:\windows\system32;C:\SIMULIA\Abaqus\6.10-1\exec\lbr\;C: \SIMULIA\Abaqus\6.10-1\External (The abaqus-python interpreter requires dlls that are in the abaqus folders) 3. set PYTHONPATH=C:\Users\hart\.eclipse\org.eclipse.platform_3.6.1_1709980481\p lugins\org.python.pydev_2.1.0.2011052613\PySrc\pydev_sitecustomize;\\nas1\W01\ha rt\eclipse\workspace\PostProcessor\src;C:\Users\hart\.eclipse\org.eclipse.platfo rm_3.6.1_1709980481plugins\org.python.pydev_2.1.0.2011052613\PySrc;C:\SIMULIA\Ab aqus\6.10-1\Python\Lib 4. Execute the script via the command line: C:\SIMULIA\Abaqus\6.10-1\Python\Obj\python.exe -u -v \\nas1\W01\hart\eclipse\workspace\PostProcessor\src\simple.py --> works 5. Launch eclipse (-arch x86_64) from the same shell: "C:\Program Files\eclipse\eclipse.exe" 6. Open a pydev console and choose the abaqus interpreter and run the script via execfile("\\\\nas1\W01\hart\eclipse\workspace\PostProcessor\src\simple.py") --> works 7. Run the same script via "Launch Configurations..." --> crahses as shown in post 1 Best regards, webhart |

The following forum message was posted by tdiggins at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4535812: I've now tried that - it was really hard to get working, so I edited the .pydevproject by hand. However the generic requirement is to allow for a configuration of pythonpath that allows you to add not just individual eggs or source folders, but a folder of eggs and source folders (an unzipped egg seems to be identical to a source folder). is that a possibility? (maybe you could make it only check the folder on demand? Or just "add all eggs and unzipped eggs in this folder") |

The following forum message was posted by fabioz at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4560271: The main reason this is not done is because I couldn't find a way to make that work properly on windows/linux (the 'real' solution would be having java do a proper work here, but just getting the PID has a bug open since 1999: http://bugs.sun.com/view_bug.do?bug_id=4244896, so, I'm not sure it'll ever be done...). Some thoughts about it (from researching a bit): For Linux, one could use "kill -s TERM 1234" (couldn't find any replacement for windows). Getting the process id of a spawned process may be difficult from Java, but it seems org.jruby.util.ShellLauncher does it, so, it might be worth taking a look at it (may not be the best approach though). In short, if someone can point to a multi-platform solution to this problem, I can add it to PyDev :) Cheers, Fabio |

The following forum message was posted by slacoste at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4560271: Hi, I find it a major inconvenience that I am not able to send a KeyboardInterrupt (using CTRL+C e.g.) in the PyDev interactive console (unlike the normal Python interpreter). I am also surprised that it seems that not many people mentioned it -- the only reference to it that I found was this one. Is there really no way to include a more gentle interrupt than the SIGTERM from the red square button in PyDev? Like adding a 'stop execution' button (rather than 'kill whole program'). The reason I ask is that whenever I code in Python I just seem to make heavy use of CTRL+C. Maybe because I mistyped something, and I want to interrupt the current flow; or a function will take forever to return (often due to a bug) and I just want to interrupt it. But I don't want to kill the whole program as I already had loaded several other data-structures which took a long time to build. I make heavy use of reload(<module>) for debugging and exploration purposes. Am I the only one? Thanks, Simon |

The following forum message was posted by chausberger2 at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4556635: Hello, I've downloaded the latest Eclipse (3.6) and Pydev (2.1) and opened a python file which has this code in it: if __name__ == 'main'. But instead of 'main' I only see 6 squares. This happens with all single quoted strings, including the ones I type myself. When I type double quoted strings, I get two squares. I do not get the same behaviour with the Scala plugin or when writing Java Code. I use Ubuntu 11.4 on a 64 bit machine, Eclipse 3.6 and Java 1.6.0_25. I did not have the same problem at work with an older Ubuntu version, but I am not sure if this has anything to do with ti. Any ideas what could be the problem? I went through many Eclipse settings and tried a google search but couldn't find a solution. Claus |

The following forum message was posted by at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4556254: Hello, There's an open unassigned bug regarding variable renaming: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=3028882&group_id=85796 &atid=577329 The scenario is as follows:
@decorate(name="name") def func(): name = "name" print(name)
Renaming the 'name' variable inside func() to 'name2' would result in the following code:
@decorate(name2="name2") def func(): name2 = "name2" print(name2)
The code marked in bold should not have been changed during the rename. This is a useful feature, I hope someone could take ownership of this. Thanks, Amnon |

Hi All, Pydev 2.1.0 has been released Details on Pydev: http://pydev.org Details on its development: http://pydev.blogspot.com Release Highlights: ------------------------------- Code Analysis By default, only the currently opened editor will be analyzed (resulting in much shorter build times). Added action to force the analysis on a given folder or file. Showing error markers for PyDev elements in the tree. New option to remove error markers when the editor is closed (default). Editor Override method completions (Ctrl+Space after a 'def ') . Completions starting with '_' now have lower priority. Fixed major issue when replacing markers which could make errors appear when they shouldn't appear anymore Auto-linking on close parens is now optional (and disabled by default). Code coverage No longer looses the selection on a refresh. Fixed issue where coverage was not working properly when running with multiple processes. Added orientation options PyUnit Added feature to relaunch the last launch when file changes (with option to relaunch only errors). setUpClass was not called when running with the pydev test runner F12 makes the editor active even if there's a tooltip active in the PyUnit view. The PyUnit tooltip is now properly restoring the focus of the previous active control. Added orientation options And a bunch of other bug-fixes. Note: Java 1.4 is no longer supported (at least Java 5 is required now). What is PyDev? --------------------------- PyDev is a plugin that enables users to use Eclipse for Python, Jython and IronPython development -- making Eclipse a first class Python IDE -- It comes with many goodies such as code completion, syntax highlighting, syntax analysis, refactor, debug and many others. Cheers, -- Fabio Zadrozny ------------------------------------------------------ Software Developer Appcelerator http://appcelerator.com/ Aptana http://aptana.com/ Pydev - Python Development Environment for Eclipse http://pydev.org http://pydev.blogspot.com |
