The following forum message was posted by piotr_dobrogost at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4601942:
It should be OK
Well I think I phrased my question wrong. What I meant is this; I think that error markers' removal should be done when one cleans PyDev project. There's nothing wrong with current way of invoking it but I think many (most?) people would expect this removal to occur when they clean project. |

The following forum message was posted by fabioz at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4601942: It should be OK (note that I agree that the PyLint integration could be improved, I think that the actual target would be having most of the PyLint analysis built in into PyDev). The following forum message was posted by fabioz at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4602905: It should work with any version, as long as you have the pydev debugger and the python standard library in the PYTHONPATH. Which error are you having? Cheers, Fabio |

The following forum message was posted by at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4602905: I'm using a product that includes an embedded python interpreter (python2.6.dll) on a Windows box. I tried to attach Pydev's debugger to both the product's executable (xyz.exe) as well as the python dll, but both failed. Does the dll or application need to be built with certain options to allow debugging in Pydev? |

I added --disable=W0105 to PyLint options and in spite of this error being absent in the console output of PyLint it is still present in the Problems view. Cleaning the project doesn't clear Problems view. I found the same qu estion was already asked by dontaylor on 2006-03-28 with fabioz's answer there is no way to clear Problems view. Is it still true 5 years later or is there some way? Btw, Delete option in context menu after selecting problem(s) in the Problems view is disabled. |

The following forum message was posted by fabioz at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4598725: I think PyDev could be improved to handle the case where your code is not found in sys.path after starting up Jython... Please enter a bug report for that. As for your current workaround, edit org.python.pydev\PySrc\interpreterInfo.py and after the path_used = sys.path, do path_used.append('/usr/share/jython/Lib') and try to add the interpreter again (it should work this time). Cheers, Fabio |

The following forum message was posted by pkeller at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4598725:
OS: openSUSE 11.4 Eclipse version: Helios SR1 PyDev version 2.2.0 Jython version: 2.2a0
I tried to add a jython interpreter, using
/usr/share/java/jython.jar
as the interpreter. When I clicked "OK", an error window appeared that contained the following message:
It seems that the Python /Lib folder (which contains the standard library) was not found/selected during the install process or the stdlib does not contain the required .py files (i.e.: only has .pyc files). This folder (which contains files such as threading.py and traceback.py) is required for PyDev to function properly (and it must contain the actual source files, not only .pyc files). Note that if this is a virtualenv install, the /Lib folder from the base install needs to be selected (unlike the site-packages which is optional).
Clicking on "OK" in this window just brings it back. I tried clicking "OK" repeatedly, hoping that it would try a finite number of times and then give up, allowing me to specify the directory by hand, but this didn't work. In the end, I had to use xkill to kill this window, which terminated eclipse as well of course. First point: am I right in thinking that this is a bug in PyDev? Even if the Jython installation is odd in some way, at least there should be a way past this point so that I can tell it where to look for the required files if it can't find them on its own? Second point, the required files do seem to me to be present:
[localhost]~-579 > ls /usr/share/jython/Lib ./ compileall.py glob.py macurl2path.py popen2.py SimpleHTTPServer.py tzparse.py ../ ConfigParser.py gopherlib.py mailbox.py poplib.py site.py unittest.py aifc.py Cookie.py gzip.py mailcap.py posixfile.py smtplib.py urllib2.py anydbm.py copy.py hmac.py markupbase.py posixpath.py sndhdr.py urllib.py atexit.py copy_reg.py htmlentitydefs.py marshal.py pprint.py socket.py urlparse.py base64.py dbexts.py htmllib.py mhlib.py profile.py SocketServer.py UserList.py BaseHTTPServer.py difflib.py HTMLParser.py mimetools.py pstats.py sre_compile.py user.py bdb.py dircache.py httplib.py mimetypes.py pyclbr.py sre_constants.py UserString.py binhex.py doctest.py imaplib.py MimeWriter.py Queue.py sre_parse.py uu.py bisect.py dospath.py imghdr.py mimify.py quopri.py sre.py warnings.py calendar.py dumbdbm.py inspect.py multifile.py random.py stat.py weakref.py CGIHTTPServer.py email/ isql.py mutex.py reconvert.py StringIO.py whichdb.py cgi.py encodings/ javaos.py netrc.py repr.py string.py whrandom.py chunk.py fileinput.py javapath.py nntplib.py re.py symbol.py xdrlib.py cmd.py fnmatch.py javashell.py ntpath.py rfc822.py telnetlib.py xmllib.py codecs.py formatter.py jreload.py nturl2path.py sched.py tempfile.py xmlrpclib.py codeop.py fpformat.py jxxload_help/ pawt/ sgmllib.py threading.py zipfile.py code.py ftplib.py keyword.py pdb.py shelve.py tokenize.py zlib.py colorsys.py __future__.py linecache.py pickle.py shlex.py token.py commands.py getopt.py macpath.py pipes.py shutil.py traceback.py
|

Dear all, I am relatively new to Python, so please accept my apologies if this is a stupid question. I have a number of libraries installed in my site-packages directory (/Library/Python/2.6/site-packages on a Mac). When I simply add this directory to the PYTHONPATH for my interpreter the modules are no found. Instead, I need to add each individual .egg file or directory. Ok, I can live with that. However, when I set up my PYTHONPATH like this I have a problem when running setup.py install for my project to deploy it to my machine: the entries for the .egg files I included in the PYTHONPATH are deleted from the easy-install.pth file! I am not sure why this is happening, can anyone shed light on this? Also, why does PyDev not find the .eggs in my site-package directory? Is this a bug or a feature? The following forum message was posted by fabioz at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4595582: Actually I just reproduced it in a clean workspace (it seems the problem only happens if the exceptions were never configured). The error message in this situation should be harmless. Please just ignore it (if you really don't want to see it, you can edit pydevd.py and remove the message). Cheers, Fabio |

The following forum message was posted by fabioz at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4595582: I'm trying to reproduce that without any success. Have you configured to suspend on caught/uncaught exceptions (under run > manage python exception breakpoints)? Do you have any active exception set there? Note that this message should be harmless (so, you can safely ignore it -- unless you have set to stop on exception breakpoints and it's not stopping). Cheers, Fabio |

If so, then you need to add the libs directory to your python path. If it works in iPython, then fire up an iPython interpreter and print sys.path, and double check that all of the entries in sys.path are (a) in the PyDev PYTHONPATH and (b) in the right order. - Craig - |

The following forum message was posted by pythonscript007 at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4593717: I use Eclipse SDK, Version: 3.7.0 with PyDev 101. Furthermore I have installed - numpy-1.6.1rc1-win32-superpack-python2.6.exe and - matplotlib-1.0.1.win32-py2.6.exe as noted here: matplotlib.sourceforge.net/users/installing.html I have rebuild all the packages and looks the site-packages are listed. (by the way as you see it is an Python version installed with ArcGIS ) If I test a script to check the installation like: import numpy arcpy.AddMessage("NUMPY Version " + numpy.__version__) import matplotlib arcpy.AddMessage("MATPLOTLIB Version " + matplotlib.__version__) I get the following error: NUMPY Version 1.6.1rc1 Traceback (most recent call last): print "MATPLOTLIB Version " + matplotlib.__version__ AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute '__version__' Also the command - import pylab as pl import pylab as pl from matplotlib.pylab import * ImportError: No module named pylab So even matplotlib is installed properly in the directory "site-packages" (see screenshot attached) it does not work in Eclipse. Eclipse points properly as well (see 2nd screenshot attached). As you see I even added the directory matplotlib manually) By the way if I let it run in iPython (same installation) it works perfect. What still needs to be done to get matplotlib work in Eclipse? Thanks Werner |

The following forum message was posted by jgver at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4589906: Thanks for the help! I think this might be a case of an eclipse workspace that has been around for years, has had many projects in it (some used for actual development, others just test projects) survived several updates of both PyDev and Eclipse, and has generally just gotten too big for its britches. I removed a lot of the old (and unused) projects, and created a new launch configuration for my current project, and that one behaves normally.
Also, not sure if you've read the session related to running a program in the getting started guide: http://pydev.org/manual_101_run.html
Good stuff! It's never too late for this old dog to learn some new tricks! :-) I set the preference, "Always launch the previously launched application" and now F5 runs the previous launch config. Yay! Thanks for your help! Jeff |

Do you have some error in your error log? The following forum message was posted by jgver at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4589906: In one of the last few PyDev updates, I've noticed that launch configurations disappear. Every time I try to run a script, using F5 (I'm using the Visual Studio key configuration scheme), PyDev will ask me if I want to debug as "Python Run" or "Python unit-test". I get this dialog every time I run a script. Prior to a few weeks ago, I would only have to do this once, and then all subsequent launches would use the previous launch configuration. And if I go to the launch configuration dialog ("Run/Debug Settings" from the Properties dialog for a given Python file), no launch configurations appear. If I try to create a new launch configuration using the Project's name and the Python file's name appended to it (which is how PyDev automatically names them), I get an error saying that a launch configuration with that name already exists. This behavior has just started happening a few weeks ago. (I've been using PyDev for almost 3 years). Is this a bug, or has handling of launch configurations changed recently? Thanks in advance, Jeff |

The following forum message was posted by jurgenfd at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/3727840: Hi again, my previous message (@2011-06-28 16:18:46 CEST) can be ignored. I found out that pylint was picking up an old rcfile (in my ~/.pylintrc) by default. In there I misconfigured output-format=parseable when changed back to the original: output-format=text the integration with eclipse/pydev worked fine again. Sorry to have bothered anybody. |

The following forum message was posted by at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/3727840: I have to confirm this issue on my Mac OSX with pylint from Mac Ports at: /opt/local/bin/pylint. This is a small script using: /opt/local/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-p ackages/pylint/lint.py Installed from py26-lint package. In my case pylint runs fine from command lin. In Eclipse, when I redirect output from pylint to console it also works fine. It's just the messages don't show up in the 'Problems View'. Just like the original poster I have ensured the right items are configured there (I hope). I'm running the latest pydev version 2.2.0.xxxx. Eclipse 3.5 and: pylint 0.23.0, astng 0.21.1, common 0.55.1 Python 2.6.6 (r266:84292, Jun 17 2011, 16:46:33) [GCC 4.2.1 (Apple Inc. build 5666) (dot 3)] I have also tried pydev version 2.0 instead of 2.2 to no avail. Important question for debugging this: Does the checkbox 'Redirect pylint output to console?' also prevent it from ending up in the Problems Tab? I don't think so but... A couple of screenshots hopefully show more. Thanks guys!
