I think the Xms/Xmx must be always defined in MB (i.e.: -Xmx384m). Also, I don't think you NOT should need a value more than say 800m (if you do need such a big heap, it may be some memory leak). Also, you should be able to update the PyDev from Aptana Studio 2.0 to the latest PyDev (following the instructions for Eclipse 3.2 at: http://pydev.org/manual_101_install.html ) Note that it may be better if you can go to Aptana Studio 3 (Aptana Studio 2.0 is no longer in active development, so, the support for Aptana Studio 3 should be much better). Hi,
Just got a brand new Macbook Air, brought up Aptana Studio 2.0, and almost
immediately ran out of heap space. I've tried several things, read a dozen
articles on the obscurity that is the Java .ini file, and am thoroughly
confused. Would some kind person look at this aptanastudio.ini file and
tell me what I'm doing wrong?
-startup
../../../plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.0.201.R35x_v20090715.jar
--launcher.library
../../../plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.cocoa.macosx_1.0.1.R35x_v20090707
--launcher.XXMaxPermSize512m
-application
com.aptana.ide.desktop.integration.Application
-Xdock:icon=../Resources/aptana.icns
-Dorg.eclipse.swt.internal.carbon.smallFonts
-vmargs
-Xms2g
-Xmx2g
-XstartOnFirstThread
When I look at the configuration in About/Installation, all that makes it is
eclipse.vmargs=-XstartOnFirstThread
and no complaints that I can find. The heap space showing starts at 54M of
94M and rapidly decreases as I try to work, until it crashes.
Any help would be appreciated.
...Thanks,
...Ken

The following forum message was posted by kutchbhi at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/3726184: sorry for bumping this thread. But I have the exact same problem. pydev with eclipse. Intellisense doesnt work with 'external'(non-core) libraries. from PySide.QtCore import * from PySide.QtGui import *
# Create a Qt application app = QApplication(sys.argv) # Create a Label and show it label = QLabel("<font color=red size=40>Hello World</font>") label.
after label. nothing pops up. HOWEVER in aptana studio3 it works as expected. Only in eclipse with pydev does it not work. |

The following forum message was posted by at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4611885: I just downloaded the latest Pydev (2.1.1.20110713) on Eclipse 3.6 (CDT edition) for Ubuntu 64 bit. When I try to start a new pydev console -> Python console, I receive the following error: import sys; print('%s %s' % (sys.executable or sys.platform, sys.version)) Console already exited with value: 1 while waiting for an answer. Error stream: Output stream: this same message is emitted on every command However if I start the console as pydev console -> Console for currently active editor all seems to work mint-ily. This problem did not occur before the update, and I was only making a updating from 2.1.0.20110623. Hints? |

The new quick-outline is not a modal dialog, that is mean I can do other things when it is opening. Even if the dialog loses focus, it always shows. So, I would rather quick-outline is a PopupDialog than it is an unmodal dialog. In the pde org.eclipse.pde.internal.ui.editor.outline.QuickOutlinePopupDialog same as jdt’s |

The following forum message was posted by fabioz at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4610465: Because the interesting classes related to it (org.eclipse.jdt.internal.ui.text.AbstractInformationControl and org.eclipse.jdt.internal.ui.text.JavaOutlineInformationControl) are internal and I didn't want to copy/paste a lot of code... And I find it strange that it doesn't inherit the org.eclipse.ui.dialogs.ElementTreeSelectionDialog (which I believe is the default way of selecting an element from a bunch of elements) -- in sum, I think that the extra trouble to match the JDT UI is not worth it... Although maybe if lots of people complain about it, I may rethink it :) Cheers, Fabio |

As your egg is actually a folder, please use the 'new folder' button instead of new egg/zips. Hi, i want to add egg to my project but can't confirm with the ok button. Nothing happends. Interpreter / Python -> New Egg/Zips(s) I can only add ziped aggs. No problem to add for example dm.refuse-1.1-py2.7.egg but can't add ZopeUndo-2.12.0-py2.7.egg. See screenshots... static.mymir.org/eclipse1.jpg static.mymir.org/eclipse2.jpg Eclipse SDK Version: 3.6.2 PyDev: 2.2.1.2011071313 Any solutions? Thanks Vad Best Regards Vlad Vorobiev |

Hi All, PyDev 2.2.1 has been released Details on PyDev: http://pydev.org Details on its development: http://pydev.blogspot.com Release Highlights: ------------------------------- Quick-outline * Parent methods may be shown with a 2nd Ctrl+O. * The initial node is selected with the current location in the file. Extract local refactoring * Option to replace duplicates. * Fixed issue where wrong grammar could be used. Others * Improved handling of Ctrl+Shift+T so that no keybinding conflict takes place (now it'll be only active on the PyDev views/editor). * PyLint markers always removed on a project clean. * If the standard library source files are not found, more options are presented. * If the completion popup is focused and shift is pressed on a context insensitive completion, a local import is done. * Fixed issue where a local import wasn't being added to the correct location. * Fixed error message in debugger when there was no caught/uncaught exception set in an empty workspace. * Performance improvements on hierarchy view. * Django commands may be deleted on dialog with backspace. What is PyDev? --------------------------- PyDev is a plugin that enables users to use Eclipse for Python, Jython and IronPython development -- making Eclipse a first class Python IDE -- It comes with many goodies such as code completion, syntax highlighting, syntax analysis, refactor, debug and many others. The following forum message was posted by piotr_dobrogost at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4606092: I get 'Unresolved import: select' error in Problems view for project using virtualenv. This virtualenv is configured as Python interpreter in PyDev and set for this project. All other imports of standard modules are ok. I guess this problem might be due to the fact that select is kind of special because with a few other standard modules it's placed not in the Lib folder but in the DLLs folder. However virtualenv doesn't create DLLs folder the same way it creates Lib and Scripts ones. I asked about this here http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6657541/why-doesnt-virtualenv-create-dlls-fol der Could someone reproduce this? Any ideas? |

The following forum message was posted by at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4602905: Under the Project preferences, I chose PyDev>Interpreter - Python. I clicked the New... button to add a new Interpreter. When I pointed it to the host application's exe, which is a GUI XML editor, it merely opened the interpreterInfo.py file in the editor as a text file. When I closed the host GUI application, an error dialog popped up (see attached image) and included the log text, "See error log for details. No output was in the standard output when trying to create the interpreter info. The error output contains:>>'import site' failed; use -v for traceback". Regards, John |
