Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3709319 By: nobody Hi I am trying to debug some python and all is working well except that there is nothing in the variables window. I cant see much docs about this but it seems like it is inactive for me - I would expect it to work out of the box. Is there anythin I am missing, Thanks Stuart ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3709013 By: fabioz Actually, there's a setting in the PyLint pane that specifies a maximum delta to run the PyLint builder (mostly because it does take a long time to analyze a large number of files). So could it be that the number of files you're cleaning is higher than that number? Have you tried raising it? Cheers, Fabio ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3708754 By: teunvandeberg Hi, Using the option Project clean does not appear to rebuild all files if you look at the Pylint "Problems" (report). (It could also be that the results are buffered). I changed my Pylint settings from --max-line-length=80 to --max-line-length=130. The Pylint "Problems" correctly displays "line to long > 130" for some files, but keeps stuck to "line to long > 80" for some other files in the project. Cleaning the project again does not solve the problem. Manually re saving the affected files does. I am using PyDev 1.5, Eclipse 3.1.2, Pylint 0.11.0 (common 0.15.0, astng 0.16.0) and Python 2.3 on Solaris 8. Kind regards, Teun ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3708158 By: elventear As a followup. Doing some research I found out that 3.1.2 can be ran on MacIntels with some patching. Having done so, PyDev does not exhibit the problem mentioned. As a reference check the following URLs on info about running Eclipse 3.1.2 on Intel Macs: http://www.oxygenxml.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5289 https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=98889 ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3708126 By: elventear Hi, I am having a problems inspecting the variables when debugging and I've seen this reported at least once on the forum. I am wondering if there is any news or workaround this problem? I am using 3.2 because I am using an Intel Mac and I have no other option for development. Thanks! ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. The Pydev console... actually, not the pydev console but the Eclipse console (as pydev does not actually provide a console, but just uses the one Eclipse provide) just grabs the input / output and gives pretty colors, so, you don't have anything you'd expect from a shell Shortly you have none of that stuff (which is basically the reason why it i= s not currently available). There is already a request to make the console a better shell replacement i= n the Eclipse bugtracker (https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=3D366= 69) but there seems no date for it (but they'd certainly accept patches if you're willing to do it). The other approach would be creating a shell yourself, as currently IPython talks to a shell. Last time I saw something about it, the IPython guys had some plans to do a better architecture so that they didn't rely on the shel= l structure, thus making the integration not dependend on it, so, it might be worth checking with them if they did some progress on that. Good luck, Fabio |

Greetings: We want to combine the features of PyDev and Ipython. My partner and I have had partial success in configuring Ipython to run as an external tool. My search of the web has turned up several other requests for this capability, but no info on how to do it. Has anyone accomplished this? Is there a link to a tutorial, How-To, etc., on the Web? =20 A more general question: what emulation(s) does the PyDev console terminal support? Will it emulate an ANSI terminal? A VT-100? Does it support cursor positioning commands, and if so, what is the syntax? Is there documentation on the console's implementation details? =20 Any support will be greatly appreciated. =20 Regards, =20 Barry bar...@ps... 541-302-1107 ________________________ We who cut mere stones must always be envisioning cathedrals. -Quarry worker's creed |

Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3705505 By: fabioz Well, if it is a huge string, the debugger will not get it completely because this could crash Eclipse (really). So, if you're using the extensions, you can just use the console to print that variable to you and if not, well, you'll need to print that string to some file to be able to see it -- you can do that by adding a watch expression as: open('c:/temp/test.txt', 'w').write('foo') and removing it just after you got the results in that file. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3704677 By: fabioz Well I guess that the problem is that jython did not get the updates, but good you found an alternative... I do have to think about it better how to deal with those things when you're doing the development in java and in jython at the same time... I guess I should parse java files too for code-completion purposes instead of using a shell as I do now. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3704660 By: nobody fabio. Thanks for your help. I've figured out a solution... I created a JAR file from my java project & included it in the project instead of the java library bin folder. That seems to have done the trick for the code completion. Only drawback is I need to repack the JAR file every time I change the library. It's totally outweighed though by the convenience of the code completion! Odd thing with my experience was that the even though the code completion didn't work when I pointed the project at the Java Library Bin folder, the script WOULD execute without runtime errors. All the best, daniel ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3704659 By: fabioz Well, that's up to you: You can use the code-analysis from the extensions, the code-analysis from Pylint or both. But if you want to use only the extensions code-analysis, then, yes, you should turn off 'use pylint'. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3704493 By: fabioz Actually, are you ABSOLUTELY sure that your project is set as Jython and not as a Python project? In the project type in the project properties is it marked as jython 2.1? Because here in my install, you don't need to have the python interpreter set if you set the jython interpreter. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3704471 By: nobody Thanks Fabio. Progress. I checked the error & it turns out I didn't have a python interpreter installed in the system preferences. I had specified a Jython.jar file for the Jython Interpreter because since It's a jython project I didn't think i needed a python interpreter... obviously i did. Now the simple case works with java.lang.String The case with my own imported libraries, however, doesn't. The editor thinks I'm making a mistake every time I use one of the objects from the external library. In the following snippet of code from java.lang import String from com.bitaplus.CurveAPI import * foo = CurveAPIManager() bar = String() the third line is underlined in red, as though it's a mistake. This strikes me as a bit strange because the code completion works beautifully with the second line, e.g. after typing 'from com.' a dropdown box appeard with my entire library tree. Any thoughts? The code runs without errors, by the way. Many thanks again! d. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum.
