The good thing about solutions like JPCACHE is that it does not =20 requiere any change to the code of props.... The only thing you have to do is to add a line of code to the index.php in t= he public_html folder of props. Something like this: <? $cachetimeout=3D120; require "jpcache.php" ?> All the rest is to upload somefiles and createa cache folder. That is why I think if we can make this to work for props it can be a =20 grest solution meanwhile a props native cache comes out. If some one can please install JPCACHE and see how it works perhaps =20 can see something I haven see myself. Perhaps changing something in the JPCAHE main file =20 make the trick... IT WORKS NOW... just not very stable. Engel Quoting Geert Eltink <gee...@gm...>: [Hide Quoted Text] There was a caching mechanism in props. I don't know why it has been taken out. It worked great and had a massive performance improvement. It cached tags and / or pages. I think an improved version comes back in the future. If you want to have a look at it, I think you have to download a version prior to 6.2. Regards, Geert. It dramatically speeds up the serving of your pages, by caching the ouput of pages and returning them instead of compiling the php-page. It also uses gzip content-encodig and ETag-headers, which results in around 80% in traffic-saving for php-pages. You can choose to store the cached output in files in a local dir or in a database. Features: # Caches full php pages for <X> seconds # When not modified since last visit, sends 304 response # When modified or first visit, sends gzipped content if possible, else uncompressed content # You can choose between file or MySQL based storage # Takes GET and POST data into account when caching =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D I think this is a great solution... some other CMS use this (mambo, others) You can even put in a way that it only caches pages for anonimous users and not for logged users. I tested with others CMS and works great, when using PROPS, it works, it caches all pages but, sometimes fails and send the compressed file to the browser. The loads in the server is reduced dramatically. I tested using FILE and MYSQL caching. So for props something is not compatitble... I think perhaps it is the mime type how it is handle or when it is called, because I noted that it work in pages that has the format=3Dhtml in the browser but not in the one that this is missing (e.g.: HOMEPAGE). So, if the developers of props here can have a look here and see the advantage of adding a solution like this or even using as a start for this feature :-) Alan Ricardo Sanchez Solunion Group al...@so... ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more?
