Hello ! I just browsed through the CVS today and I recognized there was some activity in the last days ... I hope that means we will have a new PrBoom release very soon ;) OK, the real reason for this post is that I had the idea to have Prboom running on the XBox. Since PrBoom has a great portability this should not be a big problem, right? Anyway, I'm still not very familiar with "such" a project. Hopefully I will find some people here who have also the interest to see their favorite Doom port running on the XBox. Please commit! I figured out that someone called "lantus" has already ported a version of WinDoom to the XBox, but the project is suspended and the release hasn't reached more than alpha status. Maybe some of the experience from porting WinDoom to the XBox can be used for porting PrBoom. The same guy has also released a port of the SDL library for the XBox and this is as far as I understand a very good possibility for running PrBoom on it. Here are some links for your reference: Lantus ClassicX http://www.lantus-x.com/ClassicX/ XBox SDLx: http://www.lantus-x.com/SDLx/ DoomX Forum: http://www.lantus-x.com/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=4 DoomX Description / Screenies http://207.44.176.77/~admin28/emuxbox/doomx.htm DoomX Download http://www.haxbox.net/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=40 In closing I just want to ask if somebody of you has been able to run PrBoom on the XBox Linux distribution http://xbox-linux.sourceforge.net/ successfully (OpenGL mode). Please write back your experience on this. Thanks a lot ! Kind Regards, kE PS: This is maybe also the chance to start developing a "crossplatform-ingame-frontend"? |
