PrBoom won't run with Gothic2 (ftp://3darchives.in-
span.net/pub/idgames/levels/doom2/deathmatch/megaw
ads/gothic2.zip) and gives me this error:
"W_GetNumForName: S_START not found"
I think this was a concious choice by the Boom programmers.
Gothic2 uses a nasty hack involving an unmatched F_END
marker to trick doom2.exe into loading flats from a pwad.
This is incompatible with the lump namespaces used by Boom
etc. The hack is so nasty that there is insufficient
information in the wad to work out which lumps are flats and
which are not, so this buggy format cannot be easily
supported AFAIK. But I was never an expert on this kind of
trickery, perhaps r.g.c.d could provide some ideas.

Rip the level up with deutex then remake it.
I've got this scripted, grab xwadtools or just deu and
the excellent BSP5.0.
Yea, I'm responding to year old messages but net-
withdrawal will do that to you.

Rip it up with deutex and then reassemble it and it will run
fine.
What version? I think this is fixed now.
