I'm using PHPDev on 98 for development, but I have no experience with it and 2k. Thanks to those who tried to help with my earlier Postnuke set-up questions. I'm afraid things are still going badly. Current set up: Win2k box with the windows postnuke kit downloaded and running in C:\phpdev. For those of you unfamiliar with it, this kit comes preconfigured -- just start running Apache and MySQL as services using the enclosed BAT files, and you should be off and running. But I'm not. Apache is running. MySQL and PHP are running. But attempting to bring up admin.php or index. Php gets a title bar in the browser, a lot of fake IP activity (as measured by Zone Alarm, which "sees" the apache server trying to work" but no page ever comes up. I'm grateful to anyone who can offer any suggestions. I'm using the slimmed-down version of my.ini, and the paths in it are correct. Thanks, Greg Brooks |

Hi All! Whoops, sorry about that empty message. :) New nuker but very experienced at lots of 'server stuff.' Seems to be very low traffic here according to the archives. Rats. I don't like the 'web forum' type UI for this kind of information. Too many buttons to push. :) Have a :) day! jb -- jim barchuk jb...@jb... |

Hello, all... I'm having trouble installing (or rather, with the post-install set-up) of Postnuke on a W2k box. The setup: Apache/PHP/Perl/MySQL installed per the NuSphere installer (NOT Apache 2.0) The problems: 1.) Script doesn't want to create the database in MySQL, although if I create an empty DB manually, the install script creates all the necessary table. 2.) Don't know what to put in for "DB host" during the installer script. 3.) Following install, any attempt to get to admin.php or index.php results in "unable to connect to select database." The path I'm using is http://localhost/mutant_64/html/admin.php (goofy path, I know, but I haven't changed the apache config file to associate the directory with a specific domain ... this was meant as more of a test-bed situation.) Any help much appreciated ... honestly, I thought I knew my way around MySQL, but this has me stumped. Regards, Greg Brooks |

There's a port of Yellowpages at http://www.kul.com. It does require a minimum of PHP 4.04 installed, though. I'm currently trying to get the basic PHPyp module (http://phpyp.allthingsnuked.com/) (which was apparently written for PHPNuke) to work on PostNuke. I posted a general message earlier today about using PHPNuke addons in PostNuke. Any advice on this? Hello there Can anyone help me locate a suitable module for postnuke that works like a yellow pages directory; an online directory of companies, with names, addresses, contact details, website details, perhaps banner links, etc. that ONLY ADMINS can add, delete, alter, etc. I've scanned through several postnuke sites and can't find anything that jumps out at me, althouigh I do remember seeing a "Yellow Pages" module for PHPnuke, but I would have no idea how to convert that to be compatible with postnuke. Thanks in advance Rob |

Hi Chris, There is a postnuke sub site devoted to themes... and this link takes you to a thread on "Themes and How To Make Them." Hope you find some useful discussions here: http://themes.postnuke.com/modules.php?op=modload <http://themes.postnuke.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=PN_Cyboards&file=for um&board=8> &name=PN_Cyboards&file=forum&board=8 I find the best way is to take an existing theme that's close in style to what you want, and "tweak." Create a new subdirectory in your /themes path and copy over your selected theme's files into the new name. Change file by file and peek at your account's home page to see how it's changed. For the quickest most dramatic updates to the theme, change the colors and/or fonts in the style sheet (/themes/yourtheme/style/style.css), and replace the /themes/yourtheme/images/logo.gif with your own! -Webby 0:) -----Original Message----- From: Christopher Kolar [mailto:ck...@im...] Sent: Wednesday, November 21, 2001 8:36 AM To: pos...@li... Are addons for PHPNuke compatible with PostNuke? Is there a defined list of alterations that need to be made in order to get the addon to run on PostNuke? Also, if the addon can be used, what version of PHPNuke should the addon be written for in order to make it work with PostNuke? Alan McCoy |

Hi Guys! To change your theme Simon to something other that the one that doesn't work, just go into the config.php file and find the line stating what the default theme is. I had some problems with some dummy themes and I ended up having to remove the trashy ones to get my themes working again. I ended up stuck in PostNuke Theme for some reason. Anyway try the config.php file, that should do the trick. Regards, Dave |

That's a theme function. all you should have to do is comment out the lines for the search -- so it would look something like: ."<form>" ."<blah>" ."<blah>" ."<blah>" to /* ."<form>" ."<blah>" ."<blah>" ."<blah>" */ in the themeheader function. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jason C. Thanks John, Your answer to an earlier question about the themeheader() gave me an inspiration to think more about the overall than just the singular. To get rid of the box (which unforunately gets rid of the bar of color (which I like, and will look in to more), I've commented out lines 126 - 138 of the theme.php in the PostNuke theme set. -Jason ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jason C. I've looked in many different places, done greps through directories, etc. Looking for how to get rid of the search field that defaults to the upper right corner of the web page. I thought I found it in the themes, but I ended up getting an error if I commented it out. So, how exactly do you get rid of the search box and the word search? If I can have a module that brings up a search box on either the left or right hand side bars why would I also want one up top? Any and all help is appreciated... Thanks, -Jason |

Mattias , Codak - Thanks so much for your feedback on the Main Menu and using Link List. I knew it was somthing that I was over looking. I had "thought" that the Menu Menu was a HTML block for some reason and never relized that is the block that is allowing the other option modules to show. Once I "disabled" the main menu block and built a new link list block there is were I found the check box "not" to show modules. I had been looking all over for the check box noted in your messages. I know for some of you, you may be thinking "what a dummy" - funny thing is I am thinking the same thing! ..... Take care all! I hope this is not to elementary but I have used the TIP on using the Link Block rather than using the Main Menu HTML block - Question is , I am going to use the Link Block to build my menus but how do I prevent the sub directories within the modules file folder from showing up in "other options" - If I rename them to something like NS-whatever , it will hide it - but if there is another call to it from somewhere else in the block code (calling the old folder name) the script will fail. I have read the doc's on the PN site, that is where I read about the GREAT use of the link block ( also to resolve the ML deal ) but did not find notes of control of the "Other Options" selections and hiding them. PS. I have "renamed" some of my plugin's to NS-whatever , and it works well as long as nothing else in the script "points" to the "old" subdirectory name. Forgive me if this is really basic but I am a newbee to PHP (sorry) Thanks for the advice in advance! Hello all, Yesterday, I have finally upgraded to .64 but I still have the same problem that I have already reported before here: http://www.postnuke.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=PN_Cyboards&file=read&bo ard=3&id=3123 I still cannot see last articles and last poll in admin section. I ran both install.php and postnuke_update.php being logged as admin but nothing helped. The strange thing is that when I was testing czech language files on freshh install of .64 I used just parts of this original database and I copied tables with stories, categories and topics and inserted them through phpmyadmin to this fresh install, it worked fine, no problem, all articles were seen. Please help me. This is quite annoying and I do not really want to make new fresh install on my server. If needed and asked I can post to somebody my database (just 220kB) so that you can look at it to search for the problem. I will really appreciate that. Thank you very much in advance. best regards Tomas Nekvasil |
