I can't use myphpadmin at my hosting site, they consider it too much of a security risk. I did finally figure it out though. I deleted the nuke_user table and tried to upload the old one. But I kept getting errors. I finally figured out that I had to upload the table structure for the nuke_user table also. I now have all my users transferred over. Thanks for your help. Just use phpMyAdmin to make a dump of the users table, and then transfer it over to your other site. Another way that you could think of is to just share your users table, provided that it is in the same db as the other site. www.postnuke.com share's a ton of tables (like the queue, users) with the subsites like mods.postnuke.com and it makes management a ton easier. ----- Original Message ----- From: <je...@fe...> To: <pos...@li...> Sent: Saturday, November 03, 2001 10:14 PM Subject: [Post-nuke-users] Transfering Tables > I need to transfer my nuke_users table from one database to another. > What is the proper way of doing this? > > Jeff > > > _______________________________________________ > Post-nuke-users mailing list > Pos...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/post-nuke-users > > |

RE: - 1062: Duplicate entry '2147483647' for key 1 Found my fix in the forums .... Noted below solution fix'ed my issue with invaild UID 2147483647 Also note that I did attempt to change the invaild -1 entry from both the user table and status tables but it did not resolve the issue, what resolved for me was, exporting the table , dropping the table and rebuilding the "fixed" table (note below) to fix: export table, drop table, remove offending key from exported table, import sql Take care all! I have just noticed that a user # 2147483647 is being assigned when a user is added to our user database. No new users can be added after this takes place. If I edit the user database and change the above user number , the next user get assigned the above noted user number. To be honest I am not sure if I caused this issue in my efforts to resolve some other issues. This appears to be the last issue I need to resolve at this time. Any thoughts or which CVS file I could use to resolve the "next" user number would be great! Hey. Looks like I'm setting up a postnuke site at work. I'm liking what I'm seeing of the code base, but there are a few things I'm gonna need, and I'd like to here what the community thinks about implementation techniques before I go off and write it. (To increase the probability that I won't have to maintain a fork). We have about a dozen large sections of data which we want to put up, and they will be maintained by different people, who will want to take different levels of involvement with the modular base, and html complexity. So I need the sideboxes to come and go based upon what section the user is in, preferably while they still have access to the rest of the sites modules. I am aware of hackish ways to do this. I could overlay several sites, and have them share some tables, but not others. I'd rather not do this, it is high maintinance, and I think there is probably a better way. If the code was changed so that there was a global $CURRENT_AREA, and every URL returned by a module returned "http://host/path/file.php?Area=$CURRENT_AREA&..." and main file extracted CURRENT_AREA from Area, and checked to see if it was a valid area (perhaps a list of areas in config.php, with a default), then we could start writing modules which used this idea. Is that an acceptable way to do this? I need it, so I'll do the work, if everyone is okay with it. Otherwise, how should I do it? -- Crutcher <cru...@da...> GCS d--- s+:>+:- a-- C++++$ UL++++$ L+++$>++++ !E PS+++ PE Y+ PGP+>++++ R-(+++) !tv(+++) b+(++++) G+ e>++++ h+>++ r* y+>*$ |

The problem is that that you need to change the permissions on the config.php file, so that your pub browser has rights to modify the file. Under normal conditions the Install script does modify that file. I'm not sure what the file permissions need to be to get it to work, I usually just use my FTP program and set "[W] Other" and it works like a charm. The "official" mailing list is now over on a Yahoo Group, post your question there and I'm sure that someone will know the exact permissions needed --> http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pndev pn...@ya... -- Mike >> -----Original Message----- >> From: Gianluca Montecchi [mailto:g.m...@lo...] >> Sent: Friday, October 26, 2001 2:54 AM >> To: pos...@li... >> Subject: [Post-nuke-users] install.php script suggestion >> >> >> >> Hi. >> >> I just installed postnuke (0.64) and I noticed the nice >> installation method (with the install.php >> script that work like a wizard). >> >> After executing all the steps in the script, I try to use >> the site (a test site) and I get a "Unable to >> select database" error. >> >> looking at the config.php file, I see that it were not >> updated by the install script. Hi. I just installed postnuke (0.64) and I noticed the nice installation method (with the install.php script that work like a wizard). After executing all the steps in the script, I try to use the site (a test site) and I get a "Unable to select database" error. looking at the config.php file, I see that it were not updated by the install script. (that ask for all the necessary data). If this is not a bug, cannot be a good idea to patch the install.php file so it update the config file ? I think that, -- We are the opensource. Existence as you know it is over. We will add your proprietary features and technological distinctiveness to our own opensource project. Resistence is futile. Hi, EB I know the FixQuote replaces all single single quotes with double single quotes (' becomes '') AND all occurrences of \' with '. But in some multi-bytes environment, the back-slash ( \ ) and single quote ( ' ) are part of words. So this function will damage words. My suggestion is use StripSlash() first, then use the mysql_escape_string() when string need to insert into MySQL. Maybe this question will be solved?! I've got one pet peeve with all the *nuke* and weblogs I've looked at. Every one of them uses 'gimmicky' (yes, CSS is a gimmick) coding and javascript for unnecessary things (like re-writing the status bar =major annoyance!) I'm hoping that someone has figured out a way to clean out the un-needed junk to deliver a simple, HTML-ified system without all the hyped gimmicks. I design sites for use by everyone, no matter what their browser or vision status (i.e., a blind user can navigate my site without much difficulty). I would love to Nuke my main site to create a different kind of feel, but until I can figure out how to let the user's browser control the display (which is the PURPOSE of HTML MARKUP), the weblogs will have to remain a wish. <rant on> If the bloody graphics designers and magazine layout experts would stay out of the HTML spec, we'd be much better off. HTML is not designed to be a page layout language. it's a page description markup...there's a big difference between recommending a layout, and forcing one on a user. Gee...one of the reasons I hate flash sites? </rant off> Anyway...can someone document, or point me to documents, on how to clean up the postnuke html? Robert Cooper |
