Common name: NEUTRAL ELECTRODE's need for PATIENT's skin contact
Description:
Parameter that describes whether the NEUTRAL ELECTRODE needs direct contact to the PATIENT's skin.
Note - Typical "sticky pad" NEUTRAL ELECTRODEs need direct skin contact, while capacitive large-area NEUTRAL ELECTRODEs, which are placed at OR table, do not necessarily need direct skin contact.
Value Set:

• PATIENT's skin contact needed (description: NE needs direct contact to PATIENT's skin)
• PATIENT's skin contact not necessarily needed (description: NE does not necessarily need direct contact to PATIENT's skin)

Potentially, there is another way to model this property by using the MODE OF OPERATION pattern:

Common name: NEUTRAL ELECTRODE with need for PATIENT's skin contact mode
Description:
Parameter that specifies that the NEUTRAL ELECTRODE operates in a mode that PATIENT's skin contact is not necessarily needed.

Value Set: MDC_MODE_ON; MDC_MODE_OFF (MDC_MODE_PSD does not make sense in my opinion)

After discussion with @b-andersen on a similar topic: This does not fit to MODE OF OPERATION as defined in IEEE P11073-10701. Thus, I would not prefer this alternative.
