I compiled from source on RH8 OK, but Kpsion keeps giving error message:

RSFV could not connect to ncpd at localhost:7501

I'm a relative Linux newbie and I'd appreciate any ideas.

  Try
  
  >ncpd -d
  
  as root
  It did work by me. (read the menual)
  (and Kpsion with no connection option becouse the connection is still okee)
