Since readline-4.2a, the version variable is called
RL_READLINE_VERSION; the attached patch defines
READLINE_VERSION to be the same as RL_READLINE_VERSION
in case the latter is defined.

Works in latest CVS version.
READLINE_VERSION was a plptools-specific variable anyway.
