Is it like the Linux/Solaris LD_LIBRARY_PATH (that is, you can change it at run time to change where the libraries are looked for)? The libtool -rpath option and the LD_RUN_PATH environment variable setting before mkoctfile is executed are supposed to be used at link time to set where the libraries should be looked for. If one of those options were screwed up on Mac OS X, then if DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH is similar to LD_LIBRARY_PATH, it could be used to work around the problem. Does LD_RUN_PATH work at all on MacOSX systems? You should find documentation of it in man ld if that environment variable is honored by your linker. Instead of using the workaround, it would of course be better to solve the rpath or LD_RUN_PATH problem directly. To help sort this out, could you please send to the list as an e-mail attachment the complete make results so we can get the context of where the error occurs when DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH is not set? Please also give the ./configure options you used, and any other relevant information. Thanks in advance. Alan __________________________ Alan W.
