Well, it wasn't super quick, but the MinGW-w64/MSYS2 developers claimed they solved this issue today, see <https://github.com/Alexpux/MINGW-packages/issues/4830> and a link from there to another bug report. Anyhow, this would be a good opportunity for all three of you (Arjen, Günter, and Tom) to drop Tom's "Requires: gobject-2.0" workaround to see if this MinGW-w64/MSYS2 bug is really fixed.
