This bug was fixed in CVS on 2006-06-08 just after the 5.6.1 release.  The
CVS version of Plplot is fairly stable at the moment so if you like living
near the cutting edge you might want to try that. If you want to stick to
5.6.1 you can work around the bug by --disable-gcw or by installing
libfreetype2.

Sun is a fairly rare platform for us so please let us know if any of the
notes for Sun platforms in the INSTALL file have to be updated.
