Oops! You are absolutely right. Bad analogy. A much better analogy is the dynamically loadable shared object we use for our python interface wrapper, _plplotcmodule.so. As in that case, *.la and *.a are not needed for the java interface wrapper so I am glad you are removing them. Alan __________________________ Alan W.
