In fact, if that library is GPL, then my understanding is we are not even allowed to link to an independent version of that library without relicensing PLplot to GPL (which is not realistic because we would have to contact a lot of copyright holders to get their OK which they might not want to give). GPL programmes and libraries can link to LGPL libraries, but LGPL programmes and libraries cannot link to GPL libraries. Alan __________________________ Alan W.
